Link management software - good or not?

what are peoples opinions on arelis or zeus?

how much time does it save, and as far as monitoring links back to you, does that work? or do a good job, or can i find out the same info using the alexa toolbar and checking "backlinks"

which do people prefer? arelis or zeus or just a good old fashioned database in excel to keep track of stuff...

I used Arelis for a while a few months ago and in many ways I liked it. It can be handy to have your link directory built and re-built automatically once you select those sites to offer a reciprocal link arrangement to and I think the results look pretty professional.

My own link building has sort of evolved into what I believe will be more effective more quickly (speak to I, Brian about his services) but I think some stealthy, relevant link building of your own will pay off in addition.

As I write this, it seems to me that the effort required to build and maintain your own link directory using Arelis is worthwhile on balance.

It's highly Risky to use a tool coz any software cannot work like a human it cannot analysys the site and once you link with a wrong site you may me in trouble (My Experiance) it's better to find out the link exchange directories and go to the apporiate heading according to your website sector and there you find many sites for linkexchange post email to there web master for link exchange

Well, that's true when you use a completed automated process I'm sure.

Arelis however encourages the user to follow a process whereby they first of all generate a list of potential link partners and then visit each of them to confirm or reject their relevance.

I think the automation is designed to take the legwork out of those parts of the process which can be more quickly addressed by a machine while leaving the selection/consideration elements in the hands of the user. This seems to me to be exactly what you want to do.
