Affiliate program

Can anyone recommend a good open source or inexpensive affiliate management program? We are trying to start an affiliate program, and are looking for software that is easy to use and inexpensive or free.

That's a difficult question to answer in an open forum without doing what looks like a spam ad.

An honest answer would be that my Group uses various affiliate programs and we all make good money from them, many of us can work from home fulltime as we make more money from our YOB (Your Own Business) than we ever could from a JOB (Just Over Broke).

We lead with one primary opp at a time which is free to join and run, and free to market when you start. Then people can move up to owning their own domain, buy web hosting, have their own site, and use paid advertising, as and when they feel ready. It is also possible to recruit by giving away a free "goodies" pack. Also we cover every niche by selling from one store, covering multiple income streams.

So the honest response is if you want any more info, contact me for more details.

knotwork is liked by many
I am into free open source software but not up to date on what is out there. I have not found any e.g. GNU ones yet. I have a four levels deep one that is one of the scripts in the member's area of a oneshot-paid-membership-of-$3 site that I am a member of. I figure I'll get my $3 worth even just playing that that script looking at it seeing what it can do.

I actually plonked it onto one of my sites to look at it: http://adult.knotwork.com/affentry/ This is just it out of the zip, basically.

Turns out it uses PayPal, so I put it on the wrong virtual host to play with it. PayPal doesn't like a few of the topics that fall into the "adult" category. I very much doubt that it in any way auto-receives and auto-processes notifications of a subscription having been paid again but maybe if retention is good one could make people never expire save when one manually tells the system that a subscription expired.

But hey, I do not know how genuinely automated the pricey scripts might be. Personally I think I would outsource. Maybe ClickBank or something like that? Maybe even Doug Williams' stuff, monthly lease. But that just me, I hate having users. Users are a pain. I prefer to just direct traffic and take a cut from who-ever does get stuck with the users.

Why do so many "heavy hitters" use ClickBank?

A chap over at NetMarketingForum.com forum develops scripts, he had one, but I don't know the price as it wasn't on the page and my browser could not follow the click2pay button. You might get some very competetive offers if you ask your question in the "Development" section over there.

Hmm, DOS users in BBS era were nice to have. But Windows users? A JOB'd be better: you'd only have a FEW idiots trying to tell you what to do.

If you want GOOD affiliates that will generate lots of sales then you need a good program. The 2 best are www.myap.com and www.directtrack.com

If you yet a cheapie program then the pro affiliates won't join because they won't trust the tracking.

Hope this helps and Best of Luck!

I would recommend www.directtrack.com as well.

I suppose if you don't want to re-invent the wheel and willing to share some profit you could join Commission Junction http://www.befree.com/solutions/adv_bfast.jsp and let them handle this for you. Not sure on pricing but I think they take a small commission on payouts.
