I have to second this ^^ I have several clients which have purchased my SEO and link building services who get frustrated days after the campaign has been accomplished. It takes months to see the full effects after a marketing campaign.

I would say lack of planning is a good way to kill a business.
I get clients that have a great idea, and tell me about it and just expect it to take off if they build it.

Never ever listen to people who say that you just need to build a website to make money, because they don't have a clue what they are talking about.

A business plan is a good way to plan what you want to achieve, but you need to know first what to plan.

And the last tip, never sign a contract or if you do ask your attorney to look it over, before your sign.
