Backlinks to articles to Improve their serps

Hey,

What are your methods of getting backlinks to your articles and improving their search engine rank?

here are my main methods

• add the article url on any of my extra blogs or sites (not my bread and butter)

• rewrite articles and interlink links with other article directories

• social bookmark only the quality ones

• write great and helpful content so others link back

What methods do you use?

I think Digg can be a particularly effective way of gaining more attention for new articles.

The thing is, if you write good quality articles, people will find and link to your pages. If nobody is linking to your site, then you need to improve the quality of the articles.
