You doing any banner ads?

Anyone tried any banner advertising for their wine site? If yes, where and why? If no, where are you putting that money and why not?

I haven't started yet, but am looking to very soon.

The best PPC I've tried is adwords but I know it's not same as to other niche.

I think Banner advertising is the way to go. I am not a fan of text ads, as I know they have virtually zero chance of capturing my attention. Banner/image ads have a chance, and even if I don't read it or just barely glance at it, I am still subconsciously effected by the branding.

Banner/Image ads all the way, IMO. They are still benefiting your site even if they are not clicked, plus they make you look a lot more reputable if they are well designed.

I build high competion sites in finance, insurance, make money, etc.

I've just sold 1 million banner impressions on my highest traffic finance site to an international company

Previously I ran a text box ad script - looked like adsense skyscraper on the page - sold 1,000 impressions - didn't even cover the cost of the script, let alone installing, customising, and writing user instructions
