Week 4: Tweaking, Testing and Link building.
Suggestions to help make your web site convert better. Other things you can try in order to sell your products or services (like product test pages). How do you find related links and other places you can submit your web site to? What other things can you do to help increase links to your site?
For directory linking, http://www.directoryarchives.com is a good place to start. You can easily find free, recip and paid directories to get links from.
Other ways to find links include using search engines and checking where your competitors are getting links, searching for submit+yourkeyword, add url+yourkeyword, etc.
Trying product test pages. If you have a product or service you are selling, testing different landing pages will help you find the best conversion. Sometimes just using the keyword in the landing page will help conversion. Example you are selling a hair trimmer. So you target the keyword hair trimmer, mens hair trimmer, womens hair trimmer, and use it in your landing page. But your not converting for womens or mens hair trimmer. So you make 2 more landing pages using those terms. Usually this will convert better.
Sometimes doing several layouts of your landing page will help you find the best converting one. You may like one page best, but another may convert way better.
What ways do you tweak, test and find links?

Hi, Tanya ..
I like to use http://www.Nichebot.com, which utilizes the free version of WordTracker ... and Google, to find related keywords.
This allows me to use keywords as sub directories that are relevent to the site topic, have reasonable popularity in regards to searches ... yet don't have as much competition.
The search engine spiders, for the most part, like relevent link text ... and this allows me to increase my exposure far beyond general terms ... while remaining relevent, thus increasing opportunities ... and conversions, by staying on topic.
A also like to use this tag analyzer, to optimize my head content:
http://www.submitexpress.com/analyzer/
I've enjoyed reasonable success researching, testing and tweaking the aforementioned ... taking into consideration the content relevence and incoming links, of course.
Regards,
Mike "great series, Tanya" Merz
PS
I'll add some link building tips as a follow up in a bit ..

A few quick one way, incoming link tips ...
The obvious ... submit your website to all of the popular SEs and business directories (a robot.txt file (see http://www.searchengineworld.com/rob...s_tutorial.htm) is recommended).
Write articles ... archive them, and submit them to the article directories and circulate them via article submission services.
Start a newsletter ... archive it, and submit it to the newsletter/ezine directories.
Start a blog ... and submit it.
Start a forum ... and submit it.
Author a free ebook or report, and offer it to your newsletter subs (tell them to pass it on) ... while also taking the time to submit it to the various freebie sites.
I'll gladly elaborate ... and provide resources, at your request.
Regards,
Mike "more where that came from" Merz

Hi, Tanya ..
I have a rather extensive list in this thread on my forum:
http://www.im4newbies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=887
I'd post them all here, but they're kind of spread out ... and I'd like to give those that offered them the credit.

Glad you found the links useful, Tanya ..
Another terrific, quality inbound link tool is the Online press release.
I recommend http://prweb.com/, and suggest making sure you SEO optimize it with your chosen, promo related keywords ... as well as taking a good look at the PR writing tips tutorial http://www.prweb.com/pressreleasetips.php.
Of course ... DON'T sacrifice a quality press release by focusing TOO much on SEO optimization (find a happy medium).

Mike,
I jsut took a look at NicheBot and the numbers are not at all correct.
I did a search for "SEO" and the table showed one number, but the Google results page had a completely different number.
