Using news articles?

I am interested in using news articles from various sources in order to add related content to my site. My idea was to have a page of articles and at the bottom of each one, a link to where it is from?

Is it OK to do this?

I do it often on my site, but you have to get permission from the writer. Some websites offer their content on the GNU license, which means you can not only reprint it on your website but you can change it, too. An example of this is www.wikipedia.org

Unless your copy is of higher PR, google will just treat it as duplicate.

You can blog them all and use the key word to anchor back to your site... but will still get ditched unless the pr is higher.

You can scrap the title and first paragraph and link to the full story... this works well.

Do it for the users though, not the se's.

i dont think thats true. i featured an article about codebreaking that appeared on the writers existing website, and when i search it http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...ng&btnG=Search
my reprint (on darkmattermag) comes up right after the original. all i did was put the text into a new page layout and google doesnt seem to notice.

That is what I have found in my experience. Maybe Google caught up with me on the dupe and hasn't with you yet. But when I put some PR behind it, I came back again. (not toolbar PR - the weight you know you put behind it).
