How to promote to the unemployed?

I'm creating a web site that provides a legitimate business opportunity.
No fees, no costs, no mlm, etc. But how can I promote it? Any type of biz op, it seems, gets grouped in with all the other spam/bogus biz opps.

I'd like to promote to job seekers/unemployed nationwide, but where/how can I do that to optimize the most exposure? I look forward to your thoughts/suggestions

I might suggest that you rethink your target market......

Do not think that the mindset of an unemployed person lends itself toward any program that can not promise very quick results.....

Looking at it from the position of someone out of work........biz ops would be the very last thing on my mind.....

Yes, I have to agree.

And Jim is not being disparaging to job seekers/unemployed in what he said above. Both these demographic will be focused on their security, which means getting a job will be uppermost in their mind.

Another mistake is to have something, no matter how good, to offer and to get trapped into thinking 'this will work - because they need it"

Need is vastly different to desire.

I would suggest you raise your sights and aim a lot higher - and focus on desires.

I look at the people who have teamed up with me - doctors, lawyers, field rank military, past and present CEO's, Phd, tradesmen, etc, a wide span, but none of them are job seekers

I agree with some of the people. Choose your demographics carefully. I remember back in the day, I usually entertained the thought of self employment after a year at a new job, bored and looking for something better. You might want to aim toward sites that these workers would visit during working hours. Reddit, Digg and other news sites come to mind. Also don't forget about the Work At Home Mother's category.

Last thought, facebook ads seem to be getting more attention these days.

Hi Chris,
I think you can promote it through social networking sites like twitter and facebook. It helps so many why don't you try this.

More importantly - why the unemployed?

Let me give you a hint that will make you wealthy if you followup and put some effort in - promote to the senior citizens of any county in the world.

These are the cream of the crop, wildly qualified, widely experienced (in life, in professions etc) and left in the lurch by their blood sucking governments.

A huge %age of these people are very well qualified to take their future into their own hands, roar into action, and claim their financial and personal freedom.

Now....... how many of you are going to get wealthy based on what I've shared?

I'd start by thinking about your target audience, and what resources they might use to find employment. Perhaps you could try to work with chambers of commerce or each state's unemployment website. They might be willing to work with you and put your link on their site, if it's truly a legitimate work opportunity and not a get-rich-quick scheme or something shady.
