It looks like they are trying to go after the Craig's List market, but it looks pretty undeveloped. What would be nice is if you could report back about your own experience.

Wink Think About This:

Ebay is the worlds largest online store. This is a 400 billion dollar year buisness, has 200 Million Members, 2 million visitors per day, $100,000 in sales per minute.

What you want to do is not just post a classified ad, by the way it is $20.00, for 30 days. To begin with your classified ad is only seen in the USA. So if you posted an ad and did nothing else, well you not going to get the desired results . (I use a free product for opt ins to my list. In your follow up email you will list your primary site. Ebay does not allow you to link directly to a page that has Items for sell) Take a look at my classified under item 160427039232. Ok here you see the first step to making this work for you. Next you need to create an auction on ebay say for example some CD's or something that is a non down loadable product. Then you start your bidding at 3 to 5 bucks (The auction cost about 5 bucks for 7days,but is advertised World Wide, see the difference) Now what you want to do in your auction is link back to your classified ad where they can get your advertised product for FREE. You see this is why I never sell my CD's.. Why should they pay when they can get the information for free.

(By the way I sell clickbank, CPA, and other affiliate products and programs.)

Now after you have done all that you will see a surge in traffic when your auction is running and at the end of the month when you ad is about to expire. Never, Never buy more than a 30 day ad at a time.

In addition if you are an affiliate marketer like myself I would strongly recommend you go to the next step. The next step is to set up you own ebay store where you CAN sell Clickbank and other down loadable products. There are a ton of benefits to doing this....Free ebay advertising for one. The cost of your store is only costs $16.00 a month....Well I could go on and on. The bottom line to all of this is that ebay is an great resource that is virtually untapped. People think it is just for auctions...Well let me tell you all it is much, much more..... You just need to know the ins and the outs.

Today I am working on developing a free "Software" product to give away on ebay to get even more opt ins/sales.

I hope this has been helpful and please if you have questions ask me.

Ebay classifieds cost a lot and they do not allow promotion of non-physical items.

You will be better off exploring free and low cost advertising options.

Didn't ebay just purchase kijiji or atleast some of its subdomains?
You could definitely advertise and draw traffic from it but you would need to target your audience very specifically.

I do not think E-bay has the organizational discipline, control, or structure to even touch Craigslist.

I think Ebay Classifieds are powered by Kijiji classifieds

From what I have read I believe that Ebay started Kijiji because they were unhappy with how Craigslist (which they own, or did, a small part of) was growing. They wanted to compete and and the turkey did not fly so they merged it back and called Ebay Classifieds.
