Acquiring e-mail lists

Does anyone know a good site to acquire a list of e-mail addresses by location and date of startup?

FYI - i tried infousa but they won't send you the actual list

You do realize that if you "aquire" a list of email addresses where they did not agree to be added to your list you can get in heaps of trouble, right?

I would not send an email to anyone who has not personally double opted-in on one of my personal websites. You are guaranteed that the list will be profitless, cold and unaware that they opted in anywhere and will flag you for SPAM. Don't do it.

Non opt-in mailing lists in today environment could cost you your entire business....

What is the use of those lists?

untargeted and without being opted in!

You would hardly get any sales. I too agree with everyone here and would say it's not a good idea.

I think email lists are definitely about quality rather than quantity.

I agree with the comments about how non opt-in email lists may represent a real risk too.

I also want to try email marketing and found aweber in the internet but haven't tried to use the software. I was thinking that there is little conversion rate in the list of emails I would be getting.

i might say start building your list. there are a lot methods for that...

but you just don't scrape the whole www for email list, they can be worthless...

i suggest get a site up with opt-in page in it. provide good info. give free stuff. get traffic. and you will start getting that list.

of course, it's not as easy as how i said it.
