Ha-ha, I like your money making greed.
But here is couple questions to you.

1. Why would anyone pay any money to you to have an add anywhere on the site if you do not have any traffic?
2. Even if you have a so called promotion, why would i bother to spend time, registering my site, sending you email and then for ten days it will hang on right side of the page, if you do not have any traffic?

I hope you understand me. Before you will have any decent amount of traffic forget about even mentioning word "money". Then you might have a chance.

How to get traffic is another issue and i wish i was able to answer that question .

When you are saying traffic you need to understand what kind of traffic you mean.
You can go and buy so called "traffic" from any porn site. They will gladly send you 10 thousands visitors a day.

You will have traffic. But what kind of traffic. Those "horny" people will come to your site and close the browser next second.

Will it do any good?

The same here. You just advertised on this board your website. What is the purpose? Do you think any webmaster will go to your website looking for something?

You've got to identify people you want to target and then start promoting among them.

Look at the craigslist.org . When i needed someone for temporary remote job i went there and posted the ad (for free by the way) Because i knew i would get a response. I would never go to your site because i know it will be waste of my time.

Without people posting ads you will not have people looking.
Without people looking you will not have people posting.
Vicious circle.

--------------------------------------------------

For starter you might want to start copying Ads from somewere just to fill your site. Then, when ocasional stranger looking for something would come accross your site he might use one of the ads you have. So next time when he will want to post his own ad he would come to your site.

It's just a one way, But i can assure you anyway you choose it will require a lot of work. And the best thing for now is to forget about money.

It's hard to start a free community. But if you are asking money for it then it's tens time harder.

--------------------------------------------
Sorry, may be i am too pessimistic about your site but i think i am pretty realistic. Hope some other people at this forum have more suggestions.

PS: Try to learn from success. Find some successfull site/business in that niche you are planning to make money in and try to learn what has brouhgt that success.

It's not always about existing traffic. It's about the potential a site has. I recently worked on a site for a client that was selling sponsor ads for over $2K for 90 days. This is a brand new site with no traffic. He didn't have a problem finding sponsors to buy the ads. The company is well established in the community and will eventually generate high traffic because of all the networking they do with local companies and many corporations. Advertisers saw the potential and are willing to invest. High traffic does not guarantee that the people will click on your ads and if they do it will not guarantee that they will buy from you. He actually sold all the ad space prior to the launch of the site.

If you run a site that has quality content or has great potential and you are willing to invest time and money in it, you will never have problems having people buy ads on your site. If you think that just by putting the site online will automatically generate money, you are in for a disappointment. And yes, I am sure some have been lucky but it doesn't always work that way.
