If you are only looking for your first 25 visitors/day you can focus on really loooong tail keywords. Rank high on a few of those that your competitors won't waste their time on and you will hit 25 easily.

Thanks again for the latest reply's
I have 2 more questions-
How crazy should i go with social bookmarking my site/articles? should i digg, stumble and redit every page on my site, and add to even more bookmarking sites? or is this pointless.
I have submitted another 2 article to 2 more sites, "article base" specify's that the content should be unique, but other ones like "article depot" dont seem to say this. can i submit the same article to several sites? (if they dont specify that it must be unique)
Thanks

You should really start by reading a basic SEO guide, that covers the most important things.
I'll list a few of them here:
1. Do some keyword research to find out what people is looking for
2. Try to write your titles to cover those keywords and also make sure to use them in your articles.
3. Link from your index to the most important pages and make sure to interlink all the pages.
4. Get some quality backlinks from blogs, forum or related websites.
5. Make sure not to get nofollow links. Check the website's source, if the link has a rel="nofollow" then it's not good.
I believe these are is the basic help your need. For more you should get a basic guide and start reading. After that try to learn more advanced techniques.

needing some guidance, i wonder if some of my pages on my website need renamed to rank better in google.
For example I have written a whole section on trading psychology (which if you dont know is very important). The links to each article are placed on a page as a list with small intoduction, back when i had less experience (not that i have much now) of website building i named this page "psychology" so the url for this page became-
(my home page address).com/psychology
I have found on google adwords that there are around 3600 searches for "trading psychology" per month with low competition.
at the moment im not even ranked for the term "trading psychology"
if i changed the page name to- "trading psychology"
url- (my home page).com/tradingpsychology
would/should this help with rankings? it would mean changing a whole dose of links around my site and elsewhere?
hope i have made myself clear
(the word "trading" is already in the home page name, i dont want to keep posting links in case it is considered spamming)

2- Add a share button to each of the pages on my site and submit them to social bookmarking sites like stumbleupon and digg. (i have done a little bit of this in the past)
3- create some new hubpages as these have been quite good in the past and submit these to social bookmarking sites.
4- create other articles for other article sites, and submit these to social bookmarking sites.
5- continue to add new articles to my site.
6- try and post several times a week on trading forums(with signature url), with genuine helpful posts for members, not just for postings sake.
7-do atleast 1 blog post a week and also post this on wordpress and blogger. and post videos as well on trades.
now this is where im not sure-
8- complete a metatag description for each of my pages on my sites?????.
9- submit my site to some more directories(already did 10 or so in the past)????
does this sound like a reasonable way to proceed?
thanks everyone for replys.

Adding content to your site is important - you should try to add fresh content at least 3-4 times a week. I add a new article every day. Ten directories won't do the job - try with 1000 for a starter. As for article directories - some articles will be read 10 times, others - 2000 times, it really depends. From my experience with ezine, the click rate is at about 8 percent. The more articles you send - the better. But use different anchors in the sig; otherwise, a part of what you do will be useless. You might spin an article and post it to different directories (say 50), but make sure you spin well. Posting on forums is good, try to be active in at least a couple of them, so that you have diverse links.

I still have a lot of work to do, and lot of material add, but yesterday i had 33 visitors, granted 5 were me, but by implementing the suggestions that you guys gave me i'm seeing much more traffic that 2 weeks ago, although i'm having to work for it a bit by forum posting.
but google rankings have actually slipped which is the only concern, but bing and yahoo's have increased. only thing wrong at the moment.
thanks

Google makes constant changes. You will slip and rise especially on a new site. Just keep at it steady. You've already met your first goal so the sky is the limit over the long haul. Good job.

just perhaps something to consider that goes against most advice-have you considered offline marketing? When I set up a web design business i found it was to competitive to compete for business online. So I moved off line.
What about attending trader events/seminars and getting to know your target market face to face and "asking" them to visit. Or go the the nearest station and hand out flyers before/after work to your target market. get some traffic and if the content is good enough, maybe it will snowball...
just a though

I recommend you submit a guest post to someone's high traffic trading blog. Leverage the traffic already on a similar niche. Their readership is your ideal readership, too.
Your guest post or your author's bio will have a link that goes back to your website. Here's a way to find those blogs to submit to.
Type this in Google exactly:
trading blogs + "write for us" OR "guest post" OR "submit a guest blog" OR "looking for guest posts"
This is a search command that will pull up results on trading blogs that have on their sites the words you see in quotes. Then you know those blogs are looking for guest writers.
Make sure their blog has plenty of comments on it which indicates active readers. Follow the rules of the blog owner for submitting your guest post.

I think visitors more love fresh article than by search engine. Many old pages (=links) are hard to beat by a new page (=link) with same SEO tehnique and backlinks.
start marketing on Social Media, try promoting your website on a facebook fan pages and groups. You have a nice content to share, it will interest people very much

Thanks for yet more replies, I am starting to see some results now, even from the articles i have submitted. trying to do 3 a week as time allows. also bloging 2-3 times a week and adding more content as well.
Im looking for ways to promote my you tube videos, thanks to someone on a different thread who suggested flixya, i have been embedding my vids over there. are there any other places to embed them on the web? like flixya?
i have submitted them to social bookmarking site like digg and stumble etc.

25 is a fairly reasonable trget and quite easy to achieve if I'm being honest. Although certain hight paying niches in the financial sector, youd have to spend a lot time getting 25, it's easy achieveable for most small business/tech subjects.
One of the problems a lot of junior webmasters face is that they set targets so high, say 300 visits a day when they do not have any prior experiencein traffic generation. And they set such high goals that they set themselves up for failure.
I would also concur with the long tail search terms if you're optimising for searhch engine traffic. It's very easy to make the mistake of going for very high traffic keywords, but they have a lot of competition, and you'd have to spend months just getting to page one, a long term phrase is easily achievable in less time, and can be more better for conversion as the traffic is much more specific.

Yeah i dont want to set goals that are obviously unachievable in the short term at least. a set of mini goals are better.
yes long tailed key words are good for me, i have done a lot of checking on adwords and found that some of the more obscure searches have very little competition. i wrote a hubpage and titled it exactly the same as one of these search terms with low competition and about 3000 searches a month, and im already on the front page in google.
some of my old pages on my websites were not named very good because i had no idea about this. should i be changing them and hence the url as well?

don't just rely on seo, by long tail keywords I assume you want to get google traffic.
You can write an article on ezine articles, and word it nice, make the content relevant and post a follow up link at the end of the page in order for the visitor to follow through, It's difficult to quantify exactly how much traffic you can expect to get, ususally though with around 10 or so articles on EZA I tend to get at least 3-4 visits from EZA to my website a day.
EZA is a great way to do seo AND get real relevant traffic.

Another popular site to try is Ezine. Although effectively you are writing articles for them, they do allow people to have a signature box with a link to their website in. I have found that a lot of my traffic does tend to come through this site.

i dont get why someone with website about fireworks would post an article about forex trading???
