websiteoutlook is not a source for checking your backlinks. You should do it using Yahoo explorer and Google webmaster tools. Also indexing and showing your backlinks takes some days. Usually less than 10 days according to the sites you made backlinks from.

Setting aside the fact that you are going to get little to no link juice from most forums, including here, anyone who is here simply to collect Signature links is not an asset to the forum, and is not the type of member that is wanted.

In fact, those who post just for count and links frequently find that their posts are deleted; or, worse yet, that they are banned.

Have either of you ever gathered and viewed any statistics to support these claims?

I can tell you that I and others have; and, our findings are that, unless the good or service that you offer is highly relevant to the content of the forum, in general the amount of traffic that is gained is quite small, and the conversion rate is dismal.

Your mileage may vary.

The obvious thing that signature links do is give you back links. But a lot of people don't realize how much traffic signature links can give you. I actually read an awesome post recently about making your signature link stand out (may have even been in this forum).

If you post great forum posts that are answering people's questions and adding value to the forum you are going to get much more than a couple simple back links from the forum, you are going to get people trusting you, visiting your site, and making purchases from you.

The facts are that very few actually read the posts in a thread, but merely skim the opening post, make a post of their own, and move on.

i think forum signatures have started to work for me...google is now indexing my website...

in the past everytime i typed mywebsitename.com in the search box, google showed did you mean www.otherwebsitename.com ,but now that did you mean thing is gone..
