There are many better ways than SMS marketing...
- Sometimes its difficult to find target audience for your business for SMS marketing
- Your updates via SMS may annoy the user and there is possibility that you loose your potential patrons forever
- You cannot track feedback of your audience
- You have to convey your message in very limited text

Online marketing is far better than this channel...

With the invention of smart phones and tablets like iPad etc... I do believe that the potential for mobile marketing will be there...

Besides SMS marketing (which I personally don't see SMS will be here long with the FB's IM, MSN and twitter getting more popularity nowadays), another variance of mobile marketing would be incorporating the advert via the smart phone aps.

I am not mobile marketing expert, the above are just my 2-cents view.

Cheers.

I haven't tried it yet but it's sure one of the most growing way in the internet marketing world. It can be very lucrative because 90% of SMS messages gets opened within an hour- 60% more than email.

For my part it's not that convincing to use. I still prefer email marketing.

Email marketing has only 20% open rate versus mobile sms marketing at 90%+ open and read rate.

Also, keep in mind users must opt in first, so they are willingly open to receive future text alerts from companies.

What are the thoughts of others on mobile marketing?

SMS advertising is akin to telemarketing. It is annoying and intrusive and that is why there are no call list laws. Personally, if you call or text me at your convenience utilizing resources I am paying for, it is clear to me that my best interests are not near and dear to your heart. It is an automatic no deal from me.

Ad rate feedback for SMS marketing?

We're starting an SMS ad network. Looking to get $0.09 per ad impression from advertisers. Do you think that will fly?

It is a very different model and targeted, details will be available after our launch this Summer.

Generally speaking, phone users are opt in, and advertisers will be able to target by demographic (age/gender), location, keywords, time of day and more. I am looking to get some interest on the advertiser side and want to get some feedback on the rates that you feel advertisers would be willing to pay.

I know 9 cents per impression is much higher than industry standards, but mobile marketing is not a standard and is at a premium. It also offers much more than other mature methods of electronic advertising.

Thanks for the input!

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I was at work one night and recieved a text message and it was an advertisement for a product. Now i know i'm opted into a lot of email lists but i know i did not opt in to a mobile marketing list. Although half asleep one night, i might of opted in. lol

Still, my cell phone is for work related calls and of course family/friends. My cell phone is not a billboard for advertisement's. Even if i had a phone for pure business use, i don't want text messages few times a week with ads for product's.

If mobile marketing is good and has worked for a lot of people, i'd like to see some figures on this.

Mobile marketing is the hot thing in advertising, though still kind of a new area for many, some are making a kill, and they are not going to show any figure.

The beauty about mobile marketing is it is a permission based operation. You have to opt into it to receive future text messages and can opt out at any time. Look at the ads to these captivating offers you text in to obtain, they will state "watch for future offers" or something along those lines.

This is so true and thus eliminates a lot of these spam issues.

Mobile marketing is best one in current business marketing strategies but the target people matters more, if you have a list of people which are concerned and may be interested in your offer than this is more useful and you may get good results with growing business.

Gone are those days when mobile marketing give you leads or help you in sales now they simple annoy people where you sent your message so i prefer use other way of marketing like email marketing, seo services, social media instead of focusing on sms marketing

Thumbs up

Mobile marketing wont be that much useful and 99% people delete the message once they receive from free sms provider.

You might have noticed that lot of big brands does not go for mobile marketing because the know it will just degrade their reputation.
