How to promote Fiverr Gigs?

Hello,

I have a fiverr gig and I found out that fiverr is so huge, that your gig simply gets lost.

My gig already has some very nice reviews, but they don't help me if not enough people see them.

How do you guys promote gigs outside of fiverr?
I did some twitter promotion and some forum signature links.

Thanks,
-m

Hopefully this won't be considered crass self-promotion but it does answer your question aptly:

http://www.bestoffiverr.com/12-free-ways-to-promote-your-fiverr-gigs-and-make-more-money/

You can also leave comments on that blog about your gig(s).

I had the same problem and I left Fiverr for good.
I can't spend my precious time promoting Fiverr (gigs) that are just 5$.
I guess those who came first and received best reviews are lucky.

$5 is just getting your foot in the door.

Fiverr is full of people browsing to find certain services -- and a lot of them are willing to pay more than $5. I produced a video the buyer needed the same day and she paid me much more than $5 for the rush job.

There are all sorts of creative ways to boost your pay. Think of the $5 gig as a way to connect with other people, not an hourly wage.

I have not had too much of a problem. But I use the software I build to do things like post to 50+ classifieds, 30+ yahoo groups.etc mostly traffic related.

mymoney what kind of software do you use?

I agree that your ads could be easily lost in Fiverr.

Here is what I did. Well this was last month or more ago and I deleted that gig because I got no bites but let me finish.

For example, let us say you have a short guide or ebook on "how to train pidgeons"

If you google that with the quotes you will only see that the first link is an eHow. What I mean, is that if you actually had an ebook about training pidgeons on fiverr you could easily rank that search for anybody wanting to train their pidgeons.

If you go to fiverr right now and copy and pasted the most popular gig there into google you will find many many copies.

So I am going to go do that right now and come back.

So I saw the woman with the 15 second ad gig and put her into google:

"I will do a 15 sec. commercial for you or your business"

Now look at the first links, they are in this order:

tenerr
uphype
fiverr <-------- fiverr is third place

So if you want your fiverr gig seen, move it to tenerr instead. You can also have your gig reviewed by a blog and convince people to purchase it through there.

Fiverr is just the start. Think about the amount of buyers you can get from there offering services. If you can create a sale funnel after the initial sale then you'll be really on your way. Tip, send a text file with every order containing your contact details and prices outside of fiverr.

Create videos about your gig and upload them to video sharing sites. You can also submit the link of your gig to socialbookmarking sites.

Yes, you really must create a gig video.

Now Fiverr has a "Haz Video" sort, which means you can view only those gigs that have a video. This is going to be huge.

Put a video on your gig. You need to say your gig is exclusively on Fiverr or it won't be accepted.

Fiverr allows you to post on Social Media sites. So build up a decent social relationship on FB or Twitter or LinkedIN and promote your gig. Adding your Fiverr gig link to Email Signatures/ forum siggy can also work positively.

Won't that get your Fiverr account banned? I thought Fiverr is very strict about giving personal contact details to your buyer.

Yes, it might get your account banned.

Some people have commented that they include their website URL in their deliverable. That seems to be allowed. Once someone visits your website they can usually figure out a way to contact you directly.

My personal opinion is that Fiverr needs to strengthen their satisfaction guarantee the way eBay did. eBay users may recall that the messaging system always cautioned users about making contact outside eBay because you wouldn't get purchase protection you would when making the deal on eBay. For example, if you buy something on eBay and the seller never delivers it, you can get your money back. If you contact the seller directly, all bets are off.

I hope to provide some insight into what works and what didn't work as my company manages and promotes several Fiverr gigs in a case study we have in progress for future posts. I don't want to self promote but if you're interested, Googling "What Happens When You Fund A WordPress Startup With Fiverr?" will pop it up for you on the first result, video page also.

I do think utilizing your other networks is key. Facebook and Twitter have definitely sent us traffic, and you can use those other networks to spread the word - with a Fan Page or separate Twitter account for your 'gig' account.

StumbleUpon seems useful for unique/crazy gigs but if yours isn't pretty radical in some way probably best not to worry about this source of traffic.

Some personal feedback: I've put stuff up on fiverr and gigbucks and gotten very little in results. I have used a fiverr video reviewer and did get two great reviews from him, though. I've gotten much better results with my own site for similarly-priced products...a lot less crowded marketplace.

Haven't visited this issue in quite a while but I wanted to post some updates.

The situation we talked about -- providing contact information inside a deliverable -- has turned into a real problem for Fiverr. If a buyer complains, they'll ban the seller's account.

What's worse are the "smart" people who offer an ebook or such, then require the buyer to go to a login page to get it, thus collecting their email address. Again, sellers are being banned for this.

Once banned, you have to wait at least 45 days to collect whatever money is in your account. The wait is that long to account for potential chargebacks.

I tried various ads but I got bad results, so I just left a fiver to do it for me, so now typically receive several orders in the middle and end of the month,
