Do you use stumbleupon to get traffic?

Seem to me that the traffic from stumbleupon is just a quick traffic that is just checking out the homepage if it looks good or not. Not targeted at all.

Do you have any experiences with this kind of traffic?

StumbleUpon can give you loads of traffic depending on what you share/bookmark, and yes, it can also convert into sales, but it's not a 100% guarantee. Meaning, it doesn't work for all... What you need to share/bookmark in StumbleUpon to get traffic are articles, images and news that interests the general public.

I usually use this (and other social bookmarking sites like Digg) to get new pages of my sites indexed faster in search engines, when I'm looking for useful tips/tutorials, and when I'm bored T_T

I have used social bookmarking for traffic, but have found the traffic not very targeted. I prefer ranking well in search engines. Find my conversion rate goes up with search engine traffic.

This is exactly right, it is not about ship load of traffic to your site. We all need targeted traffic, or rather we need laser targeted traffic go get the the best conversion. And stumbleupon is not able to do that, ever!

I've dabbled a bit with StumbleUpon and have experienced some big traffic spikes.

The 1 thing that annoys me about the StumbleUpon traffic is that it's untargeted traffic and they trash your site's statistics. The SU traffic increased the bounce rate of my websites significantly and they barely stay on your website. They leave within seconds.

I'll say, do remember to use very specific keywords and give detailed description of your content. Besides, also use lovely photos to attract attention.
If you do so, people who visit your site will be more likely to be really attracted by your post. So, it is more likely for them to stay at your site a little bit longer. If your site post articles on a very small niche and all content are relevant to each other, it is more likely that your visitors will stay to check other posts as well.

Yes, Stumble upon does spend traffic, but if you want to get unique visitors, you have to target those people who can be interested in your product or service.

Yes, since according to most webmaster article reviews on stumble upon, the website is still up and competing strong because it's one of the best source for best rated contents just like Digg used to sport.

It's hard to get traffic from stumbleupon. You have to share great topics to readers for more views.

When I do a profile on someone on my blog, I ask them to submit the post to StumbleUpon. I'm slowly building organic traffic that way.

I used stumble upon before some time to promote one of my website, but it was not effective to get traffic as I found bounce rate is almost 95% or more than that. Any suggestions?

If you optimize your site for StumbleUpon -- meaning, above the fold is clear, direct, with your mission easy to understand, engaging -- you'll get better results.

If you're selling stuff, StumbleUpon is a poor source for traffic.

Also make sure your page is classified correctly.

You actually have to have a presence there and make friend to get great traffic, but there are only certain niches that work well there like emtertainment and stuff like that

I've some horror stories from advertisers who tried to monetize stumbleupon traffic

I would maybe think twice before using that site to get buyer traffic but if you are looking for social traffic and link bait.

I can see it working.
