Agree, Alexa Rank is not just about your site data, but also your site data relative to other site out there. And the further you go out on the tail, the less change is required from any site to cause your site to move up or down in rank. If you are out on the tail and you improve your traffic a modest amount it could improve your rank by a million places or more.

Alexa rank is certainly not an important metric for a website, its just the count of visitors with Alexa toolbar installed on their systems.
You should be worried if your Google Analytics reports are not good.

That is good, glad to hear it.
alexa is spyware. Maybe browsers are starting to get better at blocking malware. Or maybe more people are learning how to remove malware.

ranking decreasing
I've noticed my decrease as well recently. My site is seasonal, but I still don't normally see it drop off as low as it has recently. Social Bookmarking has helped alot.

If alexa rank is decreasing, but SERP is same as the first; then the rank will drop for sure. It will definitely affect your google SERP result. Doing forum posting regularly is not enough for your website. You need to create quality back links to increase your daily visit, google and alexa ranking.

Alexa looks for your 3 months traffic. If you had a sudden good traffic the last 3 month and current decrease some, it is going to drop in ranking. You can use your analytics and view your 3 months traffic and see if it is performing better or worse

You have any proof of that.
Alexa will not have any affect on your Google SERP's....none what so ever.

I would not be concerned with your Alexa rank. As long as you are ranking well for your specific keywords you will be fine. Focus on expanding your keyword database to get more traffic to your site and you will probably see your Alexa rankings go up.

Alexa rankings aren't important imo. So you shouldn't worry about your rank decreasing. I have a few sites that go down in rankings in alexa every time I check (2-3 times a year) even though their traffic has grown exponentially.

Hi mate,
If you want more traffic and good alexa ranking, you need to get increasing traffic to your site. If you have good quality back links to your site, than it will not effect to your serp in the google.

It seems Alexa has changed their algorithm in calculating the rank.

Hmm..I am not so sure about Alexa rating not affecting SERP. Read on some blackhat forum that Alexa ranking might be one of the 200+ factors that affect SERP and I do notice Alexa ranking increase followed by ranking improvement. Or perhaps it's the other way around. Anyway, it's a very weak effect, if you like low Alexa rating, just have Alexa toolbar installed and browse your site all day :-)
