moneyman is liked by many
I think it is a excellant idea! I have pondered something related myself. Let me share my thoughts with you. I would love to get your feedback. First of all I will be honest I joined this site simply because your posting intrigued me. My first question is where does the profit come from if any?
And can I ask your opinionon an idea I have. I want to partner with someone who has their own site with listings that include every type of property imaginable. I have the connections to get the financing for people who have been turned down in the past. I am a Note and Loan Broker. The earning potential is tremendous

I dont know. IMO its a waist of time as your not going to be able to compete with http://www.rightmove.co.uk/ for users as EVERYONE in UK knows of that URL. I am sure you can get clients with free posting but not users so where are you going to make your money? Bandwith for images are also going to be a major cost if your doing it on the cheap?

If you must do it then do narrow your niche to your local area and even so its not going to be easy.

No as long as it is labeled as sold. No as long as it is labelled as sold. If its sold and you leave it as unsold then that’s a gray area but it will only piss off users.

What the users do not realise is that eventhough it costs them nothing to view the properties at Rightmove.co.uk, they are the one who is going to foot the bill of the website (from the estate egent).

And the estate agent earns money from the seller.

And the seller puts the price higher to cover the estate agent's commission.

It is the same concept for renting.

So in the end, instead of paying less, buyer is paying higher price to cover estate agent's commission as well as the advertisement fee.

There is no free lunch in this world.

This is what I believe.

Think twice why people want to give you free stuff.

If I was you I would read and take notice what Sarahk has to say - she's an expert on real estate

I wish I had taken advice and planned before jumping in with both feet first - it's vital you have a business plan - just because your offering a free service, it doesn't mean you shouldn't plan.

Believe me - been there - and worn the t-shirt.

Darren

p.s. my primary business is relating to property but rentals for vacationers - so if you need any advice pm me

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

I am in the consideration of changing my strategy. At the moment, I am trying to figure out how to provide a different business model for this website.

The initial feedback is great but how practical it is, I am not sure.

I understand what you mean of think carefully 'before jumping in with both feet'.

Currently, I have one B&B related website and struggling to get it going.

No sale has been made since I started 3 months ago.

Property listings

I made a property listings/used car site. The property listings never took off, but the used car part did. I offer free listings for the general public, and auto dealers have to pay a monthly fee to list all their cars. The site now makes about $3000 per month from google ads, advertisers, affiliates and dealers who I set up with subsites. I think the key is to find a good miche market, real estate is a hard seo nut to crack.

Here's the site: www.portalgermany.com

Good for you.

I would be very interested to know how you made it.

Earning $3000 per month is good enough for me.
