1) need more valuable and seo optimized (not over optimized) content
2) need backlinks from various groups of sources.
When I see google webmaster tools, I see Search queries Impressions and clicks

There is no fixed approach for generating/directing traffic to your site. For me, what works best is a combination of quality content (by that I mean, timely, timeless, original, "genuine" in a sense that you really mean what you say, useful content) + good design (you have to pay attention to all the details like typography, color combination and your site must be easy to navigate) + SEO know-how. So you have got the first two but how will anyone get to see your site if you are just not visible to them. That's why we have to put in a little effort for SEO too.

I read a lot of these threads often and I seldom take action on the many good suggestions. I need to start taking notes and then actually doing what is suggested. I often, read something such as add to directories and think, "that's a good idea, I need to do that". Then, I move on and never do what was suggested. So I'll add:

I did this for my first few months when i joined this forum. Then I decided to step up to the plate and follow through with the advice i had read. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't but it's a good learning experience.

Try some off page seo methods like social bookmarking, article submission etc. Also try posting your website updates int he social media platforms like facebook, twitter, google+. And i also have a resource which will give you some traffic along with the reviews on your website everyday. i.e. Linkreferral.

I'd have to say there is a definite art of generating traffic......and with everything going on, diverse traffic streams are crucial, so involvement in social media, email marketing, and giving true value to your visitors is key to getting other forms of free visitors to your website.
