You can do both online and offline marketing strategies. Go with offline marketing first - brochures, posters, calling cards, word of mouth, etc. And then go with SEO and online marketing. Post your link on social networking sites, submit it to directories, join & engage in forum discussions putting your site as a signature link (avoid spamming though, you might get banned). Those are just a few on how to make your site popular and start converting.
If you are having an online business, you just not need to promote it much. Just do some basic stuff such as promote your shop among your friends and relatives and convince them to visit it. Also give link to your website on various other websites by creating accounts. What matters most important is the content of your website. If you really provide everything you are saying, visitors will automatically move to your website.
Since you have a store I reccomend you do both SEO and PPC to gain traffic to your website.
You should do SEO from the start for organic traffic. You should also maintain PPC campaigns aswell because if your Organic rankings suddenly fall you don't want to be without a way to continue making money. PPC can cover you for SEO shortfalls in the future.
