For making people known about you, you need to increase your web presence as you have to do the internet marketing. And there are many path for the internet marketing as the SEM, SEO , social media and many. What you could do that's free is contact blog owners in your niche and ask them if you could write a guest blog post and also provide at least 1 link to your website. By doing guest blogging on blogs in your niche, the blogs visitors should already be interested in your websites contents. You'd also get a long term backlink.

What type of software does your website run on? There could be some SEO plugins or modules for you to use. Also some people may be able to dig up some resources for you to check out to help in maintaining good SEO and good marketing methods that bring faster results.

Maybe you can try to advertise at Google Adwords. You can use Adwords Vouchers to running your ads.
