get rid of the splash page, would be my first suggestion. It serves no purpose at all and maybe it's just me, but I will typically bypass a site that makes me click an extra time just to get INTO it.

Other than that, I think you need a more active community before you'll make a big profit on ads.

If you do decide on doing Adsense as John has advised be very careful of your content. You have a thread in the bin marked porn, this could hurt your adsense account.
