Hmm the jury is still out with me if blogs are good tools to market your business.

I know it works with a lot of industries but in general the travel industry is quite lagging behind technology wise - I was emailed this week asking what RSS feeds were from a CEO of a US travel company.

I think running a blog alongside almost any business is a good thing, I most definately don't think it can hurt. It brings a human feel to an otherwise 'built' company face.

It's a good thing when used properly. It could just as well be a disaster, if done poorly.

Business first, blog second. I know many would disagree with this but keeping blogging content fresh, interesting, new and useful is a big time consumer. How many bad blogs are there? A ton! If you put the same effort into your company face then you can add value there and use a blog (if needed) to supplement. If you read Google's rules again you see they focus on 'useful content' - that should always be the mission.

true. and because it adds a human feel, like mentioned earlier, you can get away with talking a little more loose I think if you need to plug some keywords

Blog is a great way for marketing. Blog contains updated content so it helps in getting more backlinks, because of this your PR increases.

Blogs will work if you are:

Some one who can write well.
Some one who is interesting and knowledgeable.
Some one who is relatively well known her field of expertise.

I bet that's why John started a blog, he should start putting paid ads on it as well, would definitely get buyers!
