Competition sponsors how to get some one to sponsor?

I am thinking of doing a competition on my website and hopefully a big one, but I would like it to be as big as it can get if possible, so I could do with some help with some questions.

How do people get sponsors for there competitions? when I say sponsors, I mean people that will contribute to the prize for in return there name for what there offering, or does it not work like that are these people getting paid to offer there contributions?

lol no not another SEO contest I hate them

It is a blog contest not win $10,000 one I hate them lol

It is a blog contest where all my members and any one that joins has to have the best blog story and can have a link to there site or blog also if they want as it will be the members only blogs it is an idea I have there will be alot more to it than that.

The thing is people want to win cash cash cash these days, but with me being a lad with a kid lol I am a little skint and I thought well if I am going to do this I would advertise it the best I could so sponsors might be interested in giving some contributions to the competition, that way they get there name out also.

It was that or my other idea as I build custom built computers for a living that every one enters the competition with $1 and the winner that wouldn’t be picked by me wins a full very costly computer, but then I thought what happens if only 1 or 10 enter I could be very very skint allso I find that people dont trust every one and $1 is alot to people.

Does any one have any ideas on what I can or should do?

Sounds interesting

Go check who is advertising on blogs, and see if they want to sponsor it.

Yer I will that’s a good idea

I take it the computer idea was a bad one then, or which one do you or anyone else thinks would work better for a prize?

I mean any one that entered the competition if they owned a website and placed a link to it in there blog they wouldn’t loose because they would get a free back link.

I went with what some of my members thought was good so I will just have to see how it goes, all I need to do now is get the word out there.

Few sponsors will actually offer cold cash for a contest (IMO) We sponsor several contests a month and some months the prize value can be as much as $1,000

I personally have never offered cash because it does very little for you. Lots of people will enter but the chances of recovering the investment, let alone profiting are fairly slim. If you contribute a product and the site running the contest incorporates it well, you can do quite well with it.

I will ask you from a sponsors point of view...What are you offering the sponsor in exchange for the money/product (You aren't allowed to use words like publicity because everyone says that)

Well all I can say is that all sponsors get then website on that thread under the sponsor bit, to be fare what else can a sponsor get? if i was going to sponsor someone then i would only do it for the publicity my self

there will be only one winner, but I think we could have 1st 2nd and 3rd but the main winner will get the full jackpot as that is what I have already said so I cant go back on that
