Best Way To Promote a New Site ?
Hey
First: I know nothing about Promoting my site or SEO, All i know is about hosting, As from when i was 13 "hosting" was like my thing, I run loads of hosting websites with adults i did not know (They knew my age) and some of they hosts are big today,
But recently as i am now 24 i have been working on a big project call .... "BigGuns" thats what i refer my new site to.
So on my new hosting site... wait for it... "Free Unlimited cPanel Hosting" Wait how can afford it ? Simple guess who i work for ( A dedicated Server Company ) So i get massive discounts.
So i have finished my site and don't know how to promote it or SEO
Help me !
Thanks

For some SEO advice, i'd like to tell you to ask for help in the SEO section. You can also search through some threads and ask questions if you don't understand what something is or does...etc
Also check out the SEO Tip of the day sticky thread. It's updated almost daily with fresh blog posts relating to SEO stuff.
For marketing, you should make sure that you have some social buttons on your homepage and other pages on your web hosting site. Also if you have a company blog, add some social buttons on there. If you do have a WordPress blog, let us know because i can mention some basic plugins/SEO ones to get the blog SEO friendly.
Have you tried writing blog posts about the Web hosting industry? Seems you have a good knowledge of this and also servers since you work for a Server company. Doing guest blog posts on blogs related to your niche will get you some targeted traffic if they like the blog post you typed up.
You can also create threads on webmaster forums like this one announcing your web hosting packages and stuff. Check out our Web hosting section in the marketplace. We have hosting people promoting there business in there. Be sure to read the rules in this section before creating a thread.
Add a link to your signature on all forums that you join. You can get free traffic this way by posting in forums hosting sections answering questions and helping figuring out hosting problems someone may have. Who knows, they could switch to your host because you know what you are doing. I got to go right now and hopefully i'll remember to come back with better advice.

Hey
You need a startup boost to your site. You can start with PPC to gain visibility towards your targeted audience. Wildly use social media (in a proper manner). Instead of moving towards simple SEO you should go towards advance SEO that promote you as a brand.
As Snakeair mention you should go towards guest blogging (if you have vast knowledge about your industry). This will help you to drive some startup traffic. Create how to article section on your website of blog and share this on internet because many young entrepreneurs do not know how to buy hosting, setup hosting etc; this will drive some potential customers.
Best of luck for your business.

An online business is the same as an offline business - This is the part that "many" never understand. In order to run any business you first need a business plan and goals. This business plan needs to be written down on paper so you can fully see and understand what your goals are for this business.
If you know nothing about SEO and Marketing then you first job is learn how it works or hire someone that knows what they are doing. I highly suggest you learn instead of hiring someone at first. It is best to know what you are doing instead of following some bad advice from some self proclaimed expert.
Your business plan is the most important part of your business because i is going to be the guide to how your business grows and how it becomes successful. On your business plan the first thing you need to do is write down a summary of what the business is and what the purpose of this business is.
2nd you need to write down the goals of this business. Your goals for this business is very important and writing them down where you can see them will remind you of those goals. You can say you want your business to make money or you want your business to be the most popular on the planet, but the fact is it is only a dream until you write it down and make it into a goal.
3rd you will want to write down on your business plan how you plan on doing your marketing. Even if you do not know how to do SEO, bookmarking, social media, and etc. You still need to write down on your business plan the marketing that is going to be done. You need to learn the aspects of marketing but keep in mind that nobody can do all their own marketing, some things will need to be hired out to others.
4th your plan needs to have a set schedule of what you are going to do day by day. How many hours are you going to spend online, how long you will spend on social media websites per day, how many articles will you write a day, and etc. This schedule is very important because a unorganized business is doomed for failure.
Once you have all this written out then it is time to start learning some of the marketing aspects. You should start to learn the easiest thing and one of the most important things first, SEO. SEO is the easiest thing on this planet to learn, you do not need any so called expert to teach you about SEO.
Read the forums and you will learn what on site SEO is but DO NOT follow everything you read. Test things to see how they work for you and do some research. The search engines even have a webmaster central / blogs that will tell you everything you need to know about on site SEO.
When you have learned and implemented on site SEO then you will want to continue with what makes you feel comfortable. This could be article marketing, social media marketing, video marketing, and etc. Take one aspect of marketing and learn it, put it into play, test things and tweak as needed.
Follow up with the next thing doing exactly what I stated above - learn it, put it into play, test, and tweak. One of the most important things is to always test things to see how they work for you. What works for Bobby may not always work for you, this is why it is important to test things.
Please note that this post is only the basics and not covering a wide range of things.

The most important are the goals, as snakeair mentioned, because you need to decide what is the purpose of your website's promotion!
After that you need to do onsite SEO and then offsite SEO

A press release is always a good start to announce to your industry that you are new and what you do. It seems simple enough but many new companies don't do releases.

Promoting Traffic to Website
That's the biggest issue that I have found. Firstly, it won't happen overnight. It takes time even though you'll get lots of advertisements full of promise. You should try free traffic first. If you have a You Tube account you can put the web address in the description field of any videos you have. You can post it on your Facebook or Twitter account. You can submit it to directory sites and you can subscribe to forums. You can get some free advertising on Google if you do a search google coupons. The list goes on. Hope that's a start.

Slow and steady is the best way to market a new website. Content - my first mistake was wirting content that focused on ten different keywords and then wondering why I was not getting organic search engine traffic. Focus on one keyword per page and build on that keyword with 5% density, then gradually add backlinks with that keyword as text through blog or forum posts. Slowly add new content/pages with different keywords. Then wait for it... website marketing is not for those seeking instant gratification, it takes time to be indexed, crawled, and ranked.

In our own experience, for a new website that you want to let everybody knows about who and what you do, Press release is one of a great method to reach to your audience.

Doing what you are doing right now, participating in forums is a great way to get your new website out there, do however follow the forum rules, never spam, and don't be afraid to ask for honest reviews of your new website.
I hope this helps!
Much Thanks,
BiologyWebmaster

The best way to promote your new site is through SEO (Search Engine Optimization). The great thing about it is, that most of the time, its free. True that it requires hardwork, but its the best option you've got. Alternative options include using adwords, affiliates etc. which maybe more costly to handle at the start.
