Here is a question that I am very interesting in.
What is the best form of advertising that you have ever done?
By that, I mean what is the form of advertising that brought you the most number of visitors to your site?

What are you looking for? Visitors just plain visitors? Or customers that convert into a sale? What's your nice market?

Look at your competitors and find out what they are doing.

Usually ppc (adwords, yahoo search) will bring you to most visitors that will convert into a sale.

This sounds like a search for magic bullet.

The more I research about it, the more I'm sure marketing is an art that has no magic bullet.

Short spending money on PPC, I'm pretty close to be convinced that there is no 'best' form of website promotion.

Agree on the Adwords. However a well placed and picked up article or press release can do wonders!

Well, I think Adwords is WAY too expensive. You have to spend a lot of money for certain keywords or else you can forget about it.
So far, I have not had a good experience with that. I would rather pay a fixed amount a month to advertise on a website than pay for each link.

The thought of idiots clicking on my links just for fun or to take a peak and then leave, and getting charged by Google a $1 for each click gives me chill!!!!

For certain keywords, like the ones I am targeting, adwords does not seem to be such a good deal.
