Conversion on, LOL, billboards? Cost of billboard?

Curious here if anyone has any idea.

Thinking just a very simple billboard, solid color, simple text in the middle, next to the highway. Like, "NE1UP?"

And then, thinking a step further, promoting a cam/chat/text site to people on the road, on the highway...maybe not?

Just curious what veteran marketers here think and if anyone has utilized a billboard in any of their endeavours.

What type of audience/age group are you mostly trying to target?

Think about this when you are looking to do offline advertising. For your site, i don't think renting a highway billboard sign will do that much. You may get some traffic but i don't think you will profit that much off the traffic. Do you think you could makeup the cost of this billboard ad with revenue?

People are driving down the road and usually not slow so they tend to night look at billboards for that long. I'm just tossing in my 2 cents.
