just bought tld from a private collector - Expecting Traffic

Ive just bought the domain UKEcommerce.com from a private collector.
Ive started to build a website on there, and have added a forum, but I need to get more visitors and forum members.

I was expecting the domainm to get a fair bit of traffic naturally, plus being an exact match domain for its main keyword I hope it will rank well soon.

Any suggestions let me know...

Fair bit of traffic naturally?

In 15 years I have never searched for that term.......
and there are a lot of other folks...outside of the UK.....

Point being.......how many searches does that normally get?

@UKEcommerce.com

I, too, was wondering why the domain name ukecommerce would generate organic traffic. It is exceedingly broad. Here is what a quick search in Google AdWords turned up for the search terms below:

uk ecommerce

Local monthly searches = 590 Broad [Global = 12,100]
Local monthly searches = 140 Phrase [Global = 1,900]
Local monthly searches = 28 Exact [Global = 140]

ecommerce uk

Local monthly searches = 590 Broad [Global = 12,100]
Local monthly searches = 58 Phrase [Global = 1,000]
Local monthly searches = 28 Exact [Global = 390]

Perhaps local monthly searches is far larger "in" the UK than from America, where I did my query, and therefore much more relevant. But it seems the Global outputs would be much the same. But even Global (for the exact term) doesn't seem to have a high search demand. I am curious; on what basis did you suppose the domain would bring its own traffic?

One other point - what you bought was a domain name, rather than a TLD. The term TLD, which means Top Level Domain, is the ".com" portion of your domain name.

Yes, ICANN is now starting to sell TLDs but they're going for well over $100,000 (I don't recall the exact cost.) and only large corporations are buying them.

The domain name(even if it is a tld or whatever) doesn't get automatic traffic. You need content. Incentivize users to join it,try adwords, social media marketing. There are hundreds of sources, you just need to be creative.

To start I would hire forum posters and buy publicity in a good related site.

I hope you don't think that buying a 'top' domain (with no content) is a recipe for success.
