You are quite right, I can't think of anything else I would add to that. I really find forums like these really useful.

Unlike what the "experts" teach, backlinks are the last thing you should be concerned about on forums. I know many still follow those so called experts about using forums for backlinks because I delete and remove no less than 40 accounts a day from my forum.

Forums are a community with a wide range of people that have knowledge on different levels. This community should be used as a networking aspect. Get into the community and learn, share, and grow. Participate in threads that interest you and always give back to the community.

You will gain greater benefits from participating on forums vs trying to use them for backlinks.

Maybe I should make my forum no follow to keep all the spammers away (deleted 65 today) since they believe that stupid myth about only post on do follow sites.
