We just started a SEO business website. I want to know how to market it in an effective way so it will be able to compete with the rest of SEO industry websites? Is there anything special should be used like hosting free stuff and tools? Inspire me please

You've partly answered your own question.

Free tools is definately a very good way forward;

Stat counters / Future pagerank etc <-- For some reason, people like software to try to guess for them where their site is going to come up next, even if it isn't always right

The obvious one which is to lay down as many keyworded links as you can.

BTW - You ae only allowed 2 sig links and not 3. Just a quick heads up for you

imo you should participate in seo contests and try to win them.
Then you would get your site well marketed.

Definitely go with the free tools. I know I have several SEO sites bookmarked just because of some of their free scripts. Try to post about them in places where the big SEO bloggers will notice. If the tools are good, you should get a lot of exposure that way.

This has to be a tough one. If I was looking for a SEO busness, I would want to see them on top of Google search for major key words. This is hard because the major keywords are being compeated for by SEO experts.

Yep. That is a problem. That's why I am more thinking about marketing a website beyond the search engines like in a broadcast radio or TV? Is this more effective?

Yes, press releases could be a good marketing tool too. Thanks for an advice.

Another excellent option is to write up articles and submit them to
article directories.

Your site says it will show them how to get search ranking top placement; but if your site doesn't even rate higher than 1/10 in Googles ranking tool bar, then you have an issue with credibiity, don't you?
If you can do it for "them" why not for yourself?
I guess either you have to have some sites to "show" and then you can
tell... or do something to overcome that.
That would be my first response...

Well, if you are the SEO expert shouldn't we be asking you this question? People are going to come to you expecting results. The first thing I ask is how do you rank? Starting any business is hard without experience. However, I would expect any new business to have some type of work experience that eventually led them to start their business.

I would do some copetitor research and see what they are doing. What works for them. The more you know of your competitors the more successful you will be. Not that you have to spy on them or follow their every move. But look at the top 10 - 20 companies. See what they offer. What's consistent. What can you offer that they don't. What can you do better? What makes you stand out?

Results is going to be the top 1, 2, 3 of every client you have. If you don't show them results, they will not want to use your services. It's like a doctor asking a nurse how to operate or a web designer not having a portfolio or even a videographer not having a demo. You get the picture.

Yep. That's a great point. Experience and knowledge are necessary. I have knowledge, now it's time to get some first customers and gain experience. Credibility is an issue. No one wants to deal with a SEO company that has PR0at their website. A long way to go... But the end is attainable.

Offering valuable advice & free tools is always a good way to attract potential customers. If you haven't already, study what Rand has done at seomoz. He's one of the best when it comes to promotion, and has managed to get great publicity from publications like Newsweek.

If you can pull off a viral/linkbait type of event like John did, that'd be good too. But doing something like that is a tough nut to crack.
