Website Viewing Length

What would you say is an average amount of visitors who stay on a website for less than 30 seconds? This is mostly people who click on the website and then click back off straight away because they either don't like the look of the website or it isn't what they were looking for.

On my website its currently about 75% of visitors who stay for less than 30 seconds and the other 25% stay for a range of times up to 1 hour plus. Is this average or do your sites tend to have a lower percentage of visitors who view for less than 30 seconds?

Here is my most recent stats... they have been better, but I haven't been doing much on my site recently, so I don't have anything to keep there.

62% less then 5 seconds
12.5% 5 seconds to 30 seconds
15% 30 seconds to 5 minutes
5% 5 minutes to 20 minutes
2.5% 20 minutes to an hour
2.5% longer then an hour

The average visit to a website lasts less than 15 seconds.

For the radio site, it's like this

0s-30s - 61.2 %
30s-2mn - 10.9 %
2mn-5mn - 4.6 %
5mn-15mn - 6.3 %
15mn-30mn - 3.4 %
30mn-1h - 6.9 %
1h+ - 4.6 %
Unknown - 1.7 %

I'm wondering how the unknown happened. Did their computer forget how to tell time?

Hi,
The average is such a short amount of time, that is why your home page content / layout is so important. You have just a few seconds to sell them into sticking around your website.

My stats show 70% stay for < 30 seconds.

I thought 75% was high but it does seem to be relatively average for the majority of websites. My stats have actually gone back to 71% 0-30 seconds for this month.

This unknown length is also something that my stats show. Not sure what this is either? Seems strange for somebody to visit for an unknown period of time. Would be good if anybody could shed some light on this
