Yellow Pages

I've just placed an add with Yellow Pages here in the UK. Its cost me £120 for a larger than standard ad (forget exact dimensions) which I thought was good value but there are some good points and some bad points.

Good Points
  • lots of people use yellow pages and everybody gets one
  • offline advertising is often more affective
  • yellow pages now allow ads thats don't contain address and telephone number so you can just have url and description

Bad Points
  • Ad will only be seen in my local area
  • lots of competition from larger ads

I'm interested to here what you all think about this type of advertising and whether you think it will provide good numbers of visitors. Has anybody else tried this?

Thanks

mp123456 is liked by many
here in the US (Los Angeles, specifically), one of my clients had the 1st page, full page listing for their insurance company. they have since dropped it because the leds they got compared to the price had dropped dramatically and instead have used non-impression based online advertising which have converted a lot better. This includes a compination of SEM buys as well as using such companies as netquote that provide insurance leads with full details of consumers that filled out their info about what they want insured and themselves.
