Currently I don't have a channel nor actually make video's but I found these basic tips very good for beginners.

Quote:
With more than 300 hours of video content uploaded every minute, YouTube is not only the most popular video-sharing platform online, but also the second most used search engine on the web.

Knowing that you can reach such a large number of people, there are real opportunities for businesses to engage with their audience through online videos. But with so many competing videos and channels in the YouTube space, how do you ensure your videos rank highly in search results?

These are some of the methods we've found to help you work the rankings on YouTube.

Anybody care to expand further on each tip or think a big tip should of been added to this list? Please share your thoughts.

No doubt, youtube is a traffic hub but for getting traffic from youtube really need efforts. the thing which matters most for the youtube visitors is -

Your video quality.

A video should be on particular topic.

it must be well understood by visitors.

Your title must be user-friendly and have good monthly searches.

your title should be clear the video what about.

Video description meaningful of course and describe little about your video.

Before sharing video firstly make an awesome channel and apply all possible links which you have like website link and all social media links.

Try to interact with others by commenting on their videos, like their videos and by subscribing them.

Good overview article snake ... one quick tip to add.

Something simple that seems to make a difference is adding your video link (http:// - no 's') at the end of the video description. You can also add 1 or 2 additional links to authority videos on the same topic.

YT seems to reward those that attempt to keep visitors on their platform, rather than link away.

Just FYI, from my experience I noticed that the tags you use really do make a difference.

I used to upload videos on youtube before. And from what I have learned. It is important to have good title, new description every time dont just copy paste it and tags related to your niche that you are promoting.

I've read you shouldn't expect your first 15-20 videos to get a lot of views. Those video will slowly get views and your newer videos will be recommended by youtube and it will cause a snowball effect on all your future videos. I've seen users with 10K views on their 10th video and 2 million on their 50th video.

As usual quality content and contextual keywords play key role on YouTube ranking too and it is talked about in Retention section of the article. It is really a good way to measure quality of videos by taking into consideration of how many times a video is viewed and how long it is viewed.
