Your opinion about CJ
I've been reading pretty harsh reviews elsewhere online about Commission Junction (CJ).
It appears the "participating companies" aren't totally trustable as to what amount of commission they actually give "publishers" back (through CJ's central account) and some of them bail out the second a payout has to be made to cover the publishers' commissions.
I've also read about their dreaded "Dormancy Policy" which states that if an account doesn't sell for 6 months, it's terminated... but the e-mail associated with the account will forever be discriminated against... and blocked, in their registration system (with no way of being re-activated).
Perhaps you've had personal experiences with CJ so you can probably answer this question: is CJ worth the time and effort it requires?

hmmm...I haven't had problems with CJ and I don't generate that many sales but I've been paid twice. If you think your website will generate sales for certain companies based on your content and traffic then of course it is worth it because it is simply adding a code.
And I just haven't heard of the problems you mentioned but it is good to know.

It essentially brokers deals between publishers and advertisers for online marketing. Advertisers use them to get relevant traffic. Publishers use them to develop an income stream...

I dislike their "commission locking" policy. A reputable hosting company owes me $100 commission and it's been int he 'pending' column for like 2 months now.
otherwise, I like CJ, I've received a lot of checks from them.

Well, I had them for awhile at http://joystickrequired.com but I spent a week or so changing the style over and bam, account closed because I had not put the code back in yet. No email or anything. So, I don't think much of them. It could have just been unlucky timing on my part. *shrugs*

If you have a small site, CJ will not work for you.
If you do not have a very specific topic, CJ is less likely to work for you.
If you can not quickly remove an advertisement from a page, when an advertiser pulls an advertisement, CJ will not work for you.
If you want advertisements to run on every page of your site, automatically, CJ will not work for you.
If you have a few $$$ in your account when it goes dormant, they do not seem to pay them out.
If you worry that by putting the wrong ad on the wrong page, you will have no-one interact with your off-topic advertisement, then CJ is not for you.
CJ offers advertisements will no intelligence at all. The most they give is a "smart zone" which is a fancy name from a random ad script. Most things that they have banners for are items you would find in a store. So it is hard to find an ad that suits your topic.
Unless you run a very large website and wish to manage your advertisements on a page by page basis, avoid CJ.com
The good thing about AdSense is that you do not have to manage you advertisements on a page by page basis. This saves you time over first generation systems like CJ.com
Oh and yes CJ deserves those harsh reviews.
Is CJ worth the time and effort it requires?
Only you have lots of free time and no job, then maybe if you pray every day to the god of your choice, then once a year you may not have to be on the living street.
