There certainly hundreds if not thousands of them... Here are some that work very well in 2016:

Medium, Imgur, Quora, Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook, Squidoo, Voat, Ehow, Pinterest, Tumblr, and perhaps some document sharing sites such as Scribd, Issuu, and SlideShare.

But again, there are soooo many of them, just do a Google search and you will find many

This is really an open ended question. What works for one may not work for you.

When you started your blog or website you should have done some research on your target audience. This research would have answered your question for you because then you would have known where in the social media and content sharing site world your specific target audience is. No point posting to the top sites if your target audience isn't there.

I would have to agree with what @HTMLBasicTutor has said. You should make some research first in order to reach out more effectively to your target audience...

What is your goal and what is your budget. I think you need to workout road map first and then decide what to do in each particular case. If you have any kind of budget for your campaign - hire some agency for that kind of work.

I think nowadays reddit and StumbleUpon are a good way (or even the best one) to drive traffic to your site.

It don't matter if you submit to these top sites, if you don't have a website that will surely capture that visitors attention to stay longer then 5 seconds, the content site in question was a waste of your time.

Catchy headlines and good descriptions will grab some attention but the end website needs to actually keep that visitor on the site a little longer to gain a loyal subscriber..
