Site structure question

Is it better to have this... http://www.site.ca/page/ and use the default index.html...
Or this... http://www.site.com/page.html

The reason I ask is because I have a http://www.site.ca/page/ that got ranked as high as my home page very quickly... and most pages with page.html are playing catch up...

Coincidence?
Or is there something to it?

You need to define which is more important to you in order of functionaly along with page rank.

Once you decide everything can be sorted via .htaccess, whether using mod_rewrite, permanent or temporary redirection, or forcing you server to display the pages as you want.

Don’t make no difference and why should it?

A messy URL is not:

* Offend users
* Jump out of the screen and hit you in the eye
* It wont corrupt your computer
* it wont steel from you
* it wont sleep with your girlfriend

... because its only a URL.

Some people have too much time on their hands.

Hi pctec,

It is a coincidence. Just keep in mind the objective of the search engines.

No doubt sometimes this SEO stuff seems totally illogical though.
