Ways to Promote a Directory

I am looking for fresh ideas for promoting a new web directory.

Are there any new sites/ways that came up in the past few months?

It's a crowded market. Webmaster forums are the best place to start.

Definitely discussion boards are the great way to start. I think even directory submission works.

best thing to do is to get pr to be as high as possible... then webmasters will flock to your directory.

i particularly think that supporting/sponsoring skins for directory script is a great way of promoting your directory.

daboss is right on the money. Plus, after the initial work you get some good free backlinks.

I will say buy strong backlinks for ur directory and u will move high and high.PU can have the example of aviva.
If u can't spend so much money then try to submit ur dir to as much other directories as u can.

Work on your PR as this will entice more registrants. Do link building campaigns and focus on getting relevant link backs with high PR sites. Avoid buying paid links as this will not weigh in your PR building.
