Help me promote my forum

pleae tell me how to promote my forum. i need to know how to grow in visitor size. so could please could somebody tell me how to get new visitors. also please tell me what you think of my new mods. one of them is the myspace mod. which allows you to make your own myspace on my website. it has a few restrictions but other than that it's pretty cool. also check my anouncments page and take a look at my Moderator Contest announcment and let me know what you think of the contest and let me know if i should add to it or anything.

That orange think is ok at first but starts to get annyoing, try the bank mod and the cash/points mod.

Advertising is the best idea to promote your forum...If you wanna spend some $$$ to promote your forum then it is quite easy...Put your banner and link to other websites and also submit in Directories..

Get 5 or 10 of your friends and ask them to post on your forum to help it grow. Then start advertising trough other forums and blogs. Seo your forum the best way you can and the most important thing post a lot, write sticky subjects that will atract people to you.

Promoting a forum is never easy.

I'm lucky in the fact that Mine is not critical to my site, it is there just in case someone gets stuck!

I do run a monthly competition, but it can be a pain in the butt and can be expensive

Once I considered paying people to post, I made a few enquiries but there were not many posters that could post relevent subjects.

Joining directories is a good way to get some traffic, for every thousand people that see your forum one or two may join

Man promoting a forum is like somebody told me "Moving a moon". Its really hard man takes so much work... You can start by making a contest for forum members, maybe like a free ipod shuffle or something of that nature to get the party started!

Just recruit few forum posters for few dollars. Go for adwords and also give intensive for the forum posters. (like $1 per 10 posts). Seek the help of V7n forums especially for identifying quality posters. ALL THE BEST!!!

Try to invite other forums or members in other forums to join. other thing is to submit it in directory then join and post in message board groups.
Second thing is update your forum almost regularly.always post a new topic that would be more interesting and informative as well, so members would always visit and contribute to your site and the more interesting and informative your forum the more visitors will come and join.

Your best approach would be hiring somebody for low rates part time, have them post daily for you.
Also join as many forums you can, out links on sig.

Forums are for discussion. Set the mood for discussion. Not Mods If your forum just goes blah blah blah about your products, your visitors can sense this and just read and not participate.

One way is to create topics against the norm. For example if your forum is about apples and you like apples and you are the expert in apples, create another user account and say that you prefer oranges to apples. Then go to other apple loving forums and complain to them about that orange loving idiot in your apple forum. That would encourage people to come in and give than orange clown a hard time.
