800 Number Advise

Do 800 numbers seem to increase traffic to a site? Do they add legitamacy? Any oppinions?

Also, anyone have a recomendation for a good 800 service provider and anyone know anything about Kall8 or Accessline?

I guess what I meant was will the 800# increase orders. Increased traffic is a different subject.

To me the answer is self obvious. If you have a requirement for people to call you then a 800 number will be valuable.

If your site or product is simple and can convert to sales without anyone wanting to call you them why bother.

But 800 numbers are cheap. They only cost when people are calling you. With an 800 number you essentially agree to pay all the long distance charges associated with any call.

Now if you are concerned with giving the appearance of a sizable company then an 800 number may give you some credibility.

All these answers seem so self evident that I'm not really sure what the question is? If you want somebody to call you long distance get an 800 number. If you think it will make you look like a bigger company then get an 800 number. If nobody calls you it will cost you almost nothing. So I guess if you needed to ask the question I would say go get a number.

I have been very happy using www.ureach.com for my toll free number. You can forward calls to any phone on the fly from the internet. Also faxing doc's over the web from UReach to any fax machine is a breeze as well. I have used it about 8 months.
