Albert, you don't "get press releases". You write them. Or hire a professional PR to write and distribute them for you. So you should start looking back at your business and ask yourself: is this newsworthy? Are people going to want to read about what you have to offer? The press release is a really powerful marketing tool, if you know how to use it.
I'd also suggest you make a free account at mypodcast.com and start broadcasting tips and advice for your possible clients.
To be successful you need to "become the resource". And V7 is the right place to start learning. Read John's blog as well!

And don't forget to keep in mind who your target audience are. You may be able to get some traffic but you also have to make sure you get some sales.

Absolutely agree, it is only one way to create traffic for free.
If you pay, you can create nice traffic in 2-3 days, but if you want to get traffic for free, you have to spend 2-3 monthes at least.

Hello Amateur,
You have started in the right place. The best advice I can give is...research, research and more research. Read all you can from different sites, V7 Network is a great start, also check out SEO Chat, Search Engine Strategies and Web Master World...there are many others but I would start there...oh yea you can go to SEMPO and BruceClay sites they also have great info...
Good luck...you have started on a grand journey with lots of fun and stress...but you will love it, when you start seeing results...remember it is a content battle, sometimes the battle is within...other times it is out of your control. Do not take shortcuts, as you will get burned…sooner or later…Remember Ethical Principals Only!!! That will make more sense as you develop your skills.
Take care,

marketing for free consists of, forum posting, blogging comments, link exchanges, maybe a low budge adword campaign, mailing your friends, creating a myspace account etc

- I think that the most powerful online marketing tool is to write articles and submit them to article direcotires and websites.
- forum is another way: particpate in some related forum less than 5 and share information with all these community and don't forget to add your signature in every forum, look to forum guidelines and do your best to respect them.
just with these two tools you can have success, but they need time and effort. The most important not to have all tool but quality in how to use tools is more and more important.
with free or paid, nowadays, to rank well with search engines you need time, don't confuse between indexed and rank well with reach engine, indexed it's easy particiapte just with this forum and your website will be indexed.
after you have do that you add some other tools in your arsenal marketing strategies. one after one,

Good post, but i think that you should more research and analyze competitor websites to understand their traffic, strategy, content.... SEO forums / resources it is great but someethimes it is nothing but waste of time talking about dreams and future plans....

PPC is marketing and PR SEO is preparing a site for a marketing campaign. Why do you separate our jobs, when we could benefit if we use both? When someone starts a marketing campaign he/she should already have, at least the on page SEO ready.

What do you mean? What's funny about SEO and PR being interrelated to ensure online success?
