MySpace Bot - Automated Addition of MySpace Friends
I've installed 2 MySpace Bot Apps in the last 5 hours and neither are working for me. I'm using IE7 and I'm not sure if the software doesn't work at all or if it's just not working with this newer version of IE.
So far I've installed these 2 and have had no luck.
AdderRobot
RoboAdder 1
Can anyone suggest a good bot to add myspace friends?

I don't even think the script is legal... you might get banned from myspace if you use it.

It's a technique spammers use for many reasons.
With automatic friend addition, they can then post bulletins advertising their services to every single friend. And more personally, scripts are available which will automatically post comments on peoples pages.
Spam, wrong, unethical, but it works, so people will seek ways of doing it.

Reason for more myspace friends

Well there are many reasons why.... and you might laugh but I'm being honest with y'all.
1. You can leave your link on peoples myspace pages. This helps with link building and seo efforts.
2. My clients have myspace pages & they want as many eyeballs to see their page/logo/branding as possible.
3. The more times I can get the name of my domain name across the web is better.
4. It's their choice if they want to ADD Me or not.
5. You can block people you don't know from requesting to be your friend.
6. I could potentially reach a customer or client that didn't previously know about me, but they are glad I found them. This could translate into sales of all sorts.
7. I'm single and wouldn't mind meeting girls from all over the world. You can set the friend adding software to only target the options you want.
For instance - You can target - just Women - Ages 21-31 - In a specific zip code, within a specific body type, looking for dating or relationships, and of course even ethnicity.
BTW.... I ended up finding the software I was looking for. Last friday I had 60 friends now Im over 200 with over 500 pending request out. {Myspace limits friend request to 500 a day}

Yep. I'm a spammer. Never thought of it like that until you mentioned it. I've never considered myself a spammer, I don't spam forums or send out blast emails. So in the traditional sense of spammer I would say no I'm not... but I'm not here to argue.
This is how I sees it, I would litterally spend hours searching for people that had stuff in common with me and now I don't have to. Seriously, I would go around to other design firms, clothing pages and seo people that I liked their myspace pages or they're art and I would add them by hand. For hours & hours... now I dont have to do that. Its sooooooo nice.
I'm meeting new people and some of them have even come back and left nice comments on my page like " Hey nice site! Thanks for the add "
Its cool to hear stuff like that from people you've never met or have seen your work before. I suppose it would be different if I was marketing viagra or smut. But Im not. No pop ups - no gimmicks or money making schemes on my page. I do see your point Isla, I'm approaching people that haven't asked me to. But then again, isn't that what meeting NEW people is all about?

Ya but your top 3 reasons:
Quote:
1. You can leave your link on peoples myspace pages. This helps with link building and seo efforts.
2. My clients have myspace pages & they want as many eyeballs to see their page/logo/branding as possible.
3. The more times I can get the name of my domain name across the web is better.
|
So they add you thinking your just looking for a friend or whatever, but then you are going to spam their page by putting a link in their comments (i would guess.) And not only linking for yourself but spamming on your clients behalf as well. All for SEO purposes for you and your clients. 4 & 5 is reasons why it is ok to use the software and 6 & 7 are other possible side effects for your intentions.
So the purpose and point of you getting this bot is for SEO and marketing, the side effect is that you may meet new people. It's cool that you at least realize this is spamming, but lets not glorify the side effects from your intent. Like I have said on this forum before.. I have more respect for an admitted ahole than I do for those aholes who pretend to be nice. Own your purpose

Yea you get your brand and your client's brand out there, but at what cost. The way you market and represent your brand is how people will think about you and your brand. You take the easy, cheap, and irritating route, so your brand must be easy, cheap, and irritating. Not to mention your backlinks will probably yield very little quality traffic.

Spamming to meet girls???? That's pretty creepy. I'd keep that to myself if I were you.
I don't mean to sound harsh. It's just from a business perspective...I would represent myself or my clients in that way. Everyone Hates a Spammer.

IslaScotts, having a link with custom anchor text for your website in your signature on forums... is that any less spammy than what the original poster is talking about?

It is way less spammy... put together these statements from him:
Quote:
|
Last friday I had 60 friends now Im over 200 with over 500 pending request out. {Myspace limits friend request to 500 a day}
|
He has 200 hundred people on there, 500 pending.. and would have more but darn MySpace.. they limit how many requests you can make in a single day to a measely 500!
Now put it with:
Quote:
1. You can leave your link on peoples myspace pages. This helps with link building and seo efforts.
2. My clients have myspace pages & they want as many eyeballs to see their page/logo/branding as possible.
3. The more times I can get the name of my domain name across the web is better.
|
On this forum, if you post over and over with the same advertising so you get your link in a million places... guess what happens... you are considered a spammer and are therefore banned. Could you imagine a person on this forum posting 500 messages a day with the only intent to advertise your services or your clients services. If you were the forum mods or admins... would that not piss you off? It is spamming.

There are tons of ways you can use the automated systems to spam people and I have been the target of tons of it. However, I will not deny that there are ways to use it in a positive, non-spamlike way but you must be very creative to do this.

ADDERROBOT SUCKS and doesn't work. He programmed it, sold it when it worked, and now with the new CAPTCHA it's broken. He sold enough to not care

IslaScotts, you don't have to post 500 times per day on a forum. One post can get you 500 people to view your link on a popular forum like this, with probably a higher CTR than you'd get from posting bulletins/comments to MySpace users.

1. Most people using myspace don't know if it was a bot that added them or if they were added by hand.
2. Its not the only route, its 1 of thousands of ways to market anything on the web. Used in conjunction with other forms of advertising I can already tell its been very effective. Really effective. When people are coming back to you and saying " thanks for the add, your site rocks! " ... thats because they're glad that you added them. BOOM! one more satisfied new customer that didn't already know about us. Myspace can be used in conjunction with print ads, coupons, radio ads, TLA's, Adwords, Blogs, YouTube and all the rest of the weapons in a marketing arsenal.
Furthermore, if you have a myspace account, you are totally opening yourself up to receive random emails from people you have never met before. Thats one of the beauties of the whole MySpace concept. And if you don't want to receive emails from people that you don't know, change your myspace settings to only accept invites from people that know your last name.
