make a website:
sell links on it,
get ppc ads on it, adsense etc.

do affiliate works, forum posting, manual directory submission etc!!

- There are many ways to make money online and there are millions ebooks that speak about this topic.
But there general idea:
* use eBay and learn how to use it, start by eBay center and start to sell and buy is the easy way.
* use pay per click advertising to promote products.
* build web site and start learn about seo and online promotion (it is better to get old domain name or web site, go to godaddy to get old web site).
* use squidoo to promote products and services
* use blog

First of all you should answer the question: what are you good in? Make sure that you qite good in it and start doing that and soon you'll understand which way is better for you.

Come up with a new, unique, extraordinary idea. Have a website or blog to "showcase" it (and that website has to be user friendly, easy navigable, accessible, etc) and then start using the online channels to raise awareness about your business.

Brand your name or that of your business. Make people know that there a solid person behind your services. Make them trust you.

Start a blog, post regularly, network and get enough readers to make a community. Then try some paid blogging platforms - PayPerPost, Blogitive, Blogsvertise, etc.

Visit the problogger job board - there are enough opps. posted there.

The list could go on forever. But you'll have no success if you work anonymously.

Read forums like this and learn (for several months). Create interesting website with original content. Sell links or show ads there.

Create Quality Website and sell product on that! Use adsense and other affiliated ads!

Whatever you do, including your exploration, installation and deployment of open source scripts, it has to be in a field you like.

It can be something funny like a blog that constantly monitors what the big soft drinks companies do to "out-advertise" each other. Over time, you'll build up a niche in which search engines will gladly direct targeted visitors.

From my experience, success takes lots of elbow grease... and time.

If you can rank for it, it's profitable. Not many people can. Not a good choice for someone new to the internet.
