eMerchandise.com

Hi, I use the affiliate program from eMerchandse.com and just received a $303.04 check in the mail today.

I just went and checked how much I sold and I should only be getting a check for about $4.00!!!!!

Has anyone else had this happen to them? The check seems to be authentic and there is no wording on it to claim otherwise. Should I cash it???

I wouldn't, check with them to see if there's been a mix up.

Yeah you may want to contact them...I wouldn't want to have to pay them back after spending some or all of that money.

Are you sure you're reading the stats correctly?

$303 could be for last month, $4 could be your current earnings for this month. Did the check actually come from eMerchandise or from a Network (if they are part of one)?

Either way, I'd cash it.

Send the check to me. I'll check it for authenticity. Also, make sure your sign your name on back for the check so I can verify your signature.

Just kidding.

Don't cash the check before verifying it with the issuer.
Ask for a written explanation and verification of the amount.

When you have written verification, it's money in the bank.
Later on, if it turns out that the company audits and finds the mistake, that's their problem since you have written verification from them.

Worst consequence would be that the company withhold future payouts to recoup their mistake, or ban your form their network.

If it's wrong, they'll probably get you back when you least expect. I'd look into it.

I can't believe what I'm hearing. Put it in the bank. You didn't solicit it or deceive them in anyway. They sent it to of their own free will. The worst that can happen if it was in fact a mistake is that they will withhold future earnings until the amount is recovered.

The probablity is that their bookkeeping is better than yours and you earned the money. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Cash the damn cheque.

I would cash it.. but just know that you may have to pay them back at some point.

I know that there have been many cases where merchandise was shipped to the incorrect address, was kept, and later the person had to pay back the company and/or the intended recipient. This is US law, atleast.

See, the problem is, if it was in error "someone" will notice. A customer will call in...I'm missing $X. They do research and find they gave it to you in error. 99/100 aren't going to say, our bad, you can keep it! They'll take it back.
