How to get tons of traffic???
Hi all,
I would like to let you know that the real traffic only comes from search engine. If your site will get top-10 rank on the prior SE, like Google, yahoo and MSN suing hot keyword;. Then you will automatically get tons of traffic on your site.
So SEO-(Search Engine Optimization) is one and only way to drive traffic on your site.
If you have any doubt then you can ask me feel free.
Thanks

That would all depend on the niche & keywords to get the tons of traffic. SEO is not the only way to drive traffic to a site, there are many different methods that can be used.

Bullcrap. the real traffic at most sites I own and maintain does not come from search engines, in fact only 16% to 23% is from search engines, and I'm talking about sites with more than 1000 uniques/day. Even this site, with more than 40.000 uniques/day only gets around 20% of its traffic from the search engines.
Only commercial sites with nothing unique to offer depend on search engines.

More bullcrap, there are many much more effective ways to drive traffic to your site.
What are you trying to do here? give our members advice? Should they ask you? I don't think so, you have a lot to learn yourself and if this is the kind of advice you give to our members I'd rather have you not giving any advice at all.

Well, it looks to me like more and more webtrepreneurs agree that the real traffic does not come only from the search engines. For example, those who use constantly the social bookmarking sites will tell you something else. What's really good about the social media is that the traffic is also targeted and if you sell cool gadgets for young people, being nr 1 at digg might also increase your ROI. It really depends what your internet marketing is all about.

SEOstar, I understand you want to sell you SEO services. I think this is the wrong forum to do that.
Trying to give professional SEOs advice about how to do SEO is a bit too much to swallow. Personally, I have a lot to learn from these people, and you should really read the threads here before making such assertions. Even I know SEO is not the only way to get traffic. And I have to know that. It is my job. The question is how to employ all the available online channels to get the best ROI for a website. SEO is just one part of the puzzle. Aaron Wall tells you that, John Scott tells you that, Dave Davis tells you that and the list could go on and on.

If I want to list the ways you can use to generate traffic to you website, I need no less than 12 months to cover them all if it’s possible.
Search Engine Traffic is the best free way if you have very wanted keywords, if you ranked at first 50 website for a keyword like free music is better than ranking #1 unwanted that’s what bad seller do not mention when they talk about raking because some keywords generate 10,000’s visitors daily for your website and other keywords generate 0.

Guys, i think seostar is just giving his opinion. don't be a hot headed ok? he's just sharing what he knew.. and if you think he's wrong.. you could just tell him in a nice way.
Each of you has their own opinion and i think everyone is right.

mabel01, not taking sides here, but I think what got everyone so upset is seostar's approach.
He basically tried to insult everyone's intelligence.
Perhaps that approach might fly on other forums, but definitely not here.

In my experience mouth to mouth advertising is the best when you are trying to sell your product. Online, or offline.
If you have a product bring it with quality, let the (potential) buyer be attracted to it. Make sure you bring it right.
From the moment a customer approaches you, treat them right. Give them all the support you can, whichever branche you're in.
When people are treated right they will keep you in their mind, tell other people about you, who will also visit you. And so on.
Ofcourse this is the very basic anyone could think of.. but when one says seo is all I tend to say that you should get back to basic.

I like social bookmarks for traffic generation. One small blurb on slashdot on a slow Sunday afternoon generated 16k hits, and they kept on coming for a month.
Slashdot is one of the tougher ones to p0wn compared to the other popular ones. But most can be p0wn'd using just a few "seeds" to get past a tipping point, then allownig momentum to take it from there.
All that is much easier then getting over on a search engine.

Hi Ninja,
That comment about Slashdot has me intrigued. Do you mind explaining how you got 16k hits in one afternoon? I guess you submitted an item, but then what?
