The 10 Commandments of Successful Internet Marketing

Are you striving to succeed with your internet marketing? Do you need some tips and help? Here are the 10 commandments which must be followed in order to succeed online.

1. Thou shalt work on promoting your website and business every day and give it at least one year to succeed. Internet marketing takes time and you must understand this.
2. Thou shalt offer value to your customers and prospects. Offer something free such as an ecourse, an ebook, or a free website evaluation. Go the extra mile with your offers.
3. Thou shalt endeavor to built a relationship with people not just try and sell them something. Build relationships and you will have lots of friends and the money will come along with it.
4. Thou shalt offer a piece of thyself to those with whom you come in contact. Offer to share with them who you are, as well as what you do and what you can do for them.
5. Thou shalt offer to help others and be sincere. You must truly mean what you say and be willing to be of service to others.
6. Thou shalt avoid spamming like the plague. People hate spam and can recognize it from a mile away.
7. Thou shalt follow through on your promises and do what you say you will. In today's world too many people fail to return calls, and keep their promises. Be someone who is dependable and reliable.
8. Thou shalt create more than one website and include a website with useful articles, a blog, an e-course and other useful information for your visitors.
9. Thou shalt network online with other business owners and build relationships rather than trying to sell them something.
10. Thou shalt be real. Be yourself rather than someone else. People are attracted to people who are real and authentic.

Good ideas....But in reality, it is the ones that don't really give a sh*t that seem to be making the most money.

This one especially:. Thou shalt endeavor to built a relationship with people not just try and sell them something. Build relationships and you will have lots of friends and the money will come along with it.

I wish that were true..I have lots of friends, but still, I'm broker than I was when I was contracting, where I had to pretend to like everyone that I came into contact with. Now I actually do like a lot of the people that I have contact with, but for some reason, they aren't paying me for it....

Nice post though, I like all of your points.

That's because they employ unethical tools and strategies. They probably make the most money now, but on the long term they are doomed to fail. All great brands were built in time.

I agree except on point 9 and one must do the right marketing.
Otherwise its just a lot of time wasted

I think point 10, be yourself is very very important...well all of the points are. BUT your online reputation stays around forever in old blog posts, forums, peoples discussion of your products, and if you don't "keep it real" it will haunt you...just as with anything in life.

11. Thou shall take thy time and read everything carefully before pulling out thy wallet out and spending money like crazy. Intone "money does not solve all problems" 10 times off and on throughout the day

12. Thou shall have a full and utter understanding of what's involved when thou does choose an avenue online (and at least a basic plan for implementing it) this includes reading, reading, reading, reading, reading

And based on the list...

#7 drives me crazy actually since so many programs online reel people in, take their cash, and then leave 'em in the dirt wondering what to do next. It's a shame really. As for will they get their comeuppance? I haven't a clue. So far "they" rake in the huge bucks and many others are left to pick up the pieces. If you're set up online to take money you darn well better be there for your customers after you've taken it. Sorry that whole scenario drives me nuts!
