How to market a site with $0 funds
missionenvironment.com
My new project is finally complete. Unfortunately, I have no funds at this time to advertise. Once I get enough PR I am going to get up TLA, but until then I have no funds. How can I market my site? I dont want to waste time as I feel this topic is extremely important.

Quite a good question. My website currently has ~100 uniques a day. Which partly come from v7n. That would be by socializing on forums, social networking sites (f.e. digg, stumble, etc).
You could submit your site to free directories, but this is not always recommended.

Contact other environmental bloggers. Tell them about your blog.
Also, write a few blog posts mentioning their blogs.

Try doing link exchanges with other environmental sites, maybe you can make a blog missionenvironment.com/blog and than you can follow lucia's advices.

All the things that is already mentioned works. The great thing about not having any money to market a site is that you don't need them!! As long as you have time to work your site and to build links everything is possible. Consistant quality work will always get the job done!

Social bookmarking sites at present can give you a nice flow of visitors if you are an active participator in those sites and have a strong circle of friends.
Jesse, can traffic be attracted from submitting in free directories? Care to share any experience if you have.

Yeah I have not had 0 traffic from free directories with other sites. Maybe really good directories can give you a PR boost, but thats about it.
I think I am going to start a blog and a forum, as well as distribute some articles. Ill post the progress.

Really? That's amazing... I mean: how many of these visitors come from v7n and how do you manage to get such a huge traffic from here?
I get some traffic from v7n too, but not so much. It's true I'm not very active in the forums either. My daily routine hardly leaves time to open my emails.

without budget you need quality content and more effort.
comments blogs,
free ebook,
posting forums,
articles directories.
try every thing but you should play the number game more articles submissions, more posting forums, you will get the best result.

You could fill your blog with slightly controversial topics and get people ranting about it Think the rest has all been said. It really is true, you will need to write lots of good articles, keep fresh content coming, and submit your articles to places that accept them Good luck!

devilzfan300,
If you got nothing, why don't you barter for your service? For example, do an article submission for somebody and then in term have them digg, stumble, permalink and etc...
There are plenty of ways. Free publicity isn't always bad, unless you go in the route of TE.
