how can i increase traffic??

My site is a photo/upload rate site which is targeted to a niche of people. Its been running about 3 month now, I have 260 members that are returning and is growing but it would appeal to quite a wide range of people.

I have adsense on and its reached over $100, at the moment i am making 1-3 dollar a day.

I would like to spend a bit of money advertising somehow but am not too sure which way to go. I thought of google adwords but as I am not selling anything I don't think that would be any good.

Just wondered if anyone knew how I could boost traffic by investing money into it..?

What about a competition for your members? The member that brings most new members wins an iPod Mini or something like that? That would surely bring in a lot of new members and you would quickly have made it up for the iPod in Adsense income...

Post your site name in Videos, pictures section of another websites in review section with your website name.

use YOUTUBE.COM , upload your video+idea+concept in video format, upload at youtube and see the difference........all the best

You can link to related link...Promotional ads And submit your site to free directories at

Directory Critic. Lots of free directories to submit to.... Forum Sigs postings and more....

First of all, you did not say what your niche is or where you are marketing it. I would start with forums that have to do with digital photography and ones that have to do with photoshop for starters. Place an announcement in their marketplace section. Will have to read the rules at the form before posting.

Also I would go to photography review sites and see if they would review your site for their readers or sell you advertising. People who take pictures probably do not own their own domain unless they are professionals, so there would be a lot of people who would like your service.

I would not go to directory critic for places to submit to as most of them are general and not photo specific. I would go to a major directory and look for directories of photographic sites. Or you could do a search engine search for photography and add url or add site

just a suggestion, maybe u can place digg or other bookmarking service on their uploaded photos.

With a photo sharing site, when members upload a image, they are usually given several HTML linking options right? Why not add another HTML option for the picture thumbnail to be shown, and the hyperlink to it direct to your site with the picture embedded in the page?

A few out of your members may do that, and slowly, that equals more links to your site, more people to your site and so on.

I found that the traffic from social bookmarking don't really work well with AdSense CTR though... Has anyone found the same?

Yes, sadly! I have got some big traffic surges from some of the better social bookmarking sites but for Adsense they are terrible. One day I got 400 visitors from one of them, with 0% clickthrough on a blog that usually performs very well on Adsense.
