I don't think it's yahoo. I'm sure it's a kind of survey that more respondents hates yahoo in terms of their search engine. Most users prefer google because of their fast service.

I do not believe any of the big three will die completely. They will simply refocus their efforts. Yahoo of the three is under alot of pressure because of its stagnant performance lately and shareholders are wanting results quickly.

It is most likely you will see partnerships to enhance services eventually such as search, but not the death of any of the big three anytime in the foreseeable future.

I think those three will stick around for the long haul and if any one of them disappears, it's going to be through acquisition. I think these new human powered search engines are going to find that they simply can't compete with algorithms.

Most defenitely. I have tried a them and quite honestly you do not get the same relevant ads from them that you do from Google. Of course this could change, but I really doubt it would be anytime soon. Google is just simply to far ahead this moment.

I use Google for just about all my own searches plus receive most of my traffic from them. Yahoo - I use occasionally, and MSN - almost never, though I do like to read through their news and articles on the home page.

If yahoo and msn were to gang up on google, that would be one scary site to google. Yahoo is second behind only google and if u add msn's 10 to 12% with bill gates cash hoard you will have a formidable challenge to googles supremecy. I think bill gates is just waiting for the right time to pounce.

This could happen you never know. I have learned to not second guess anything these days. Who knows Google may get to far from its core business and begin struggling to find out who it really is which would put it in a position to begin a downward spiral if these two rivals joined forces.

My experience shows, it could be Yahoo!. What do you folks think?

My website's search engine traffic when categorized percentwise from each search engine:

Google:60%, MSN:25%, Yahoo:5%, All Others:10%
I haven't experienced that. I get much more traffic from Yahoo than MSN.

Although we heard that MSN will buy Yahoo. I still don't believe that it would die for search engine company and I think it is continue to grow and to improve. Maybe in the marketing and business aspect Yahoo will not so good but as search engine, they are great and still give accurate information and service for the million of users.

When I posted this a long back, there were few takers. I guess now my point will be considered! Yahoo was and is in a serious trouble.

I agree with you and I am just thinking why does MSN and Google would like to buy Yahoo. Maybe because Yahoo is in serious trouble and need to tie up to a big company.

For me it doesnt matter. I will use them as long as they suit my purposes and move on when they dont. The underlying idea of pay per click will not go away and if one dies, there will be alternatives to take their place.

If I were to bet, it would be the one in the three spot. Same is true most everywhere there are the top three companies and #3 better look out for falling out completely. Or stay in through merger or acquisition.

I won't miss yahoo much in terms of traffic to my website from it. In the time that I have had my website up and running, I have only received 3 visitors from yahoo and 591 visitors from Google. But I have only had my website up and running for 3 weeks though...... :-)
