Selling Forum Signatures Project!
Business Idea!
I have purchased multiple domain names all .com that I think will help me control a minor part of this possibly big and very successful opportunity. Here's the domain names I bought and I did this because I''m actually going to invest money into this project. This is a new general idea I have come up with and will most likely stick very close to.
Domain names I purchased to cover the .com market as best I could,
sellingsigs.com
sigsell.com
moneysig.com
sellingsignatures.com
sigselling.com
Seller/owner of the forum signature would sign up and post their forum signature for bid or sale! It would include such information as what forum, how many posts they have, how many posts they do per day, and the duration of the forum signature sale.
The buyer/advertiser would sign up, see the seller’s forum signature and place a bid/or purchase on it. If they win the bid/purchase they get to advertise in the seller’s forum signature for whatever the duration was for. Also instead of link categories it can be forum categories to help define the forums signatures market segment, whether it be sports, tech, weather, or environmental.
I have also open a pretty cool biding/auction here, Freelance Project - Forum Signature selling Script
This so far seems to be the investment I will be looking at. People are still bidding and I have 30 days left. The script will be very professional and I also plan do be contacting major forum owners in order to hopefully get their input and acceptance. In the end I would like to see some forum owners their selves become a business partners.
We'll see where it goes for now but development process has begun and when it's complete it will be neat to see who it works out.
Marketing Ideals??
Any advice at this point would be greatly appreciated and valued as I'm really getting in pretty deep here with some finances.

Interesting idea. I actually have my own project that is thinking along similar lines, although it actually uses a PPC model, rather than out and out sales. I'm sure you're initial reaction would be "spam magnet" but that's where it helps to have a novel approach.
Anyway, I think your idea could work out. Signature links really do work well as a form of advertisement.

Yes and now the goal is to get sponsored by Forums! Allow their users to make some coin while posting inside forums. Of course this has to be controlled by the user and he/she has to know what type of ads are permitted, text, link, banner, etc…

That's one of the reasons I'm going down a slightly different route, not exactly to take the control away from the user, but to control things better (spam-wise) and make sure the forum owner gets a cut. The forum owners have to be kept happy.
Thinking about it, what I have already developed may fit in with your concept. It's basically a very strictly controlled setup, where only users of forums that have signed up to the program can generate revenue. But what I've done is to run every click made from a particular forum, through a forum plugin script, so that the forum owner gets commission for the signature being on the forum (you have to use a tracking link for this obviously).
When thinking it all out, I decided the 2 things I had to tackle were forum owner incentive (so, that's commissions) and make sure spam is kept to an absolute minimum, which is why it's a closed forum network, and the tracking script can communicate with the forums in the network.

If a forum doesn't allow selling of sig links, forum members may still do it on the quiet. Well a few of them anyway. Now that is not so bad, but I personally would not want a system for link selling on my forum if I wouldn't get a cut. The reasons for this is because if people knew that you would allow it, then they would want to post more so that they can get more links up on the pages meaning possibly more clicks. Due to this a forum owner will see a rapid increase in spam and useless posts. Now the moderators and administrators work will increase ten fold, so offering a cut to the forum owner would hopefully cover the costs of the extra moderating work involved and also earn a little bit as a bonus at the same time.

well I'm still trying to get the idea of the ground but I have been held back by popscript.com I went and purchased Auction PHP v2.0 Layout 2 Blue Grey and little did I know it has some serious errors that I have been saving money to fix. But just so you all know the concept is still in play it's just taking longer than I thought!

I'm not to big on this idea at all. If this is the case the users should share in the sites revenues as well. This might be a good or bad idea only live implementation would or could tell you. I plan on trying both. I have been looking at a few affiliate script, still debating what one I will purchase, but in the end I will have an auction and ppc running live. I'm pretty excited to see what happens to both.
I have a funny feeling they will both do good considering so many large forums already allow the sell of a users forum signature. But for the guy that has a low budget the auction I strongly believe is the way to go.

I actually thought of this idea myself a long time ago. The reason why it may not work is because most of the major forums won't like the idea that people are making money off their website without their permission. Some members might even get banned for trying to do it. Now they could post their signature for sale without mentioning which forum its for but that will be less effective because most people want to know what they buying.

Yes very clever. Gregdavidson made a valid point, but as long as the business operated from outside of forums I doubt they would create a new rule that says "Any member who has purchased or sold a sig from a website will be banned"
Go for it.

Good luck though.
