You might want to get a few REAL friends to stumble your sites and new blog posts. As people are referred to you from Stumble Upon, many of them will stumble and there is a snowball effect. It's often short lived but still well worth the effort.

I review most of the sites, and when I do I put more effort into it than saying, "this rocks!"

But after less than 24 hours, I found out joining groups helps a bit. I didn't even know you could join groups, you need to go to Tool> Toolbar Options and select "edit groups." Now you can access groups and communicate with people who share simular interest.

Someone mentioned this earier in the post, but didn't really go into detail, so I didn't pick up on it at first.

Bookmarking is social in this niche because it involves being mutual. You can't expect having a lot of fans without giving something back (stumble other sites, communicate with their owners, etc.)

I have found Stumbleupon is a great way to search. If I want to learn a lot about a topic I search it there then stumble. This way I get highly focused sites because they are screened and voted on. I was recently searching there on website development and found a lot of very usefull information and cool free tools. Quickly too.

Alexa can be used similarly because traffic is a vote on the quality of the sites too. In Fact that is how I found v7n and this very informative forum recently.

Can you put up a stumbleupon logo and collect "votes" for a site or article without joining and setting up an account?

Did I hear that google (which has a server-side bookmarking service in igoogle) was going to launch a social bookmarking service?

Also, are there any services that combine a personalized central rss service with a vote-counting public recommending service?
